even a cracked bumper if worth keeping, as they can be fixed up if not too bad.

bullshit in my opinion, looks to me more like someone trying to make money back from destroying a perfectly good car. offering citroen owners back the left overs from another 205 project. it pisses me off alot when this happens. by the time he has sold some parts back to citro owners he will prolly have got an mi16 engine for less than £200 and again destroyed a good car.

one pissed off rossco

His money, his choice.

Would you have preferred that it wasn't even offered for parts, and simply squashed?

I've done exactly the same as this in the past, removing the engine from an Uno Turbo to go in my X1/9. Some people on the fiat forum got a touch irritated when I offered the rest of the car for sale, but if I want to go and buy a car for it's engine, I will.

Getting back to the shell in question, What sort of price are you looking for for the whole thing, and how much to deliver about 60 miles?

Ta.

The only person you can get ratty to is the guy who sold it, if getting shirty with anyone is the way to go. If he wanted to ensure it went to a good home, he'd have fixed the easy fault, popped another 12months on it and got good money.
The fact that he didn't either boils down to the fact he really doesn't care what happens to it (as alot don't) or that it actually had alot wrong with it and wasn't worth the effort, which then makes it an ideal donor.
Looked tidy, but you can't see underneath!

I don't think Chris (cossie) is trying to rip anyone off either. I've known him years and know he's a bit of a petrolhead. He just wanted to build a track car....the fact he's clearly a blue oval man with little clue about French is why he's gone the common but not as good route of a 205 rather than a 309, and bought the slightly slower 3 row BX 16v, not a 2 row
But at least he's realised French is the way to go on tracks.

I'm good mate, hope you're ok. If David doesn't want to buy this, bring it round to mine and I'll take it off your hands. I'm only in Colden Common. I'll break it for all the spares I know people will want, make sure nothing goes to waste.

well all im gonna say is i wont support the destruction of these cars as im simply too fond of them. and i certainly never claimed anyone was getting ripped off or trying to rip people off. if someone here wants to break it further then go do it, but i think the better idea would be for someone to get a spare rusting lump out their shed or garage and get it under the bonnet of that car.

Right, I now have this car in my garage.

Firstly, it wasn't a good one. It was, once! But someone somewhere along the line who really shouldn't be allowed near cars has bodged it in areas (especially the exhaust!) It's sporting quite a few scabs too, although none seem to have gone through.
Lucky it was a non-runner though....whoever went to look at it would have walked away if it ran!

This car was going to be crushed Monday. It now has a stay of execution for a couple of weeks. I'll spend time stripping it in my garage getting all the important bits off, plus whatever is requested and the shell will be weighed in afterwards. I don't own it, it's just Chris has done us a favour by letting me take the car to get the stuff off it that is getting rare, like the kit and clocks etc.
All that's requested are sensible donations towards the cost of fuel etc from shipping the car around (with the exception of the alloy wheels).
If the interior only goes for £30, it's a result, because it would have been scrapped with it in otherwise and would have been worth no more there. Seriously, whatever you can offer, it's not here to make money.

We can sit and argue whether it should have been scrapped or not, but the fact is most people would prefer the 205 and the BX is unpopular, so it's no surprise this goes on everyday. Most get crushed with all the decent bits on, this one can donate lots of goodies to other cars. It's time to be grown up here and think about number one!

Right, whats gone:

Engine
Gearbox
Loom (not that anyone would need it)
Radiator & twin fans (possible it may not be required)
ECU
Rear bumper (provisionally sold back to the original ebay seller!)

Everything that's left and worth noting:

Shell. Not totally rot free to be honest, but its not the worst I've seen. Very dent and scrape free....the pics do it justice.

Doors in white. Fairly rot free throughout, just the odd patch. Mint externally.

Shortnose bonnet with black chevrons Looks to be mint again. I'll polish up along with the doors to get a better idea.

Front wings. O/S is mint with arch spat, N/S has small dent in top tip due to someone losing their rag with it!  Could be tapped out with not too much bother IMO.

16v bodykit. All there except rear bumper, and front bumper is rather worse than original ad suggested. Red stripes are mint on front however. All sideskirts are good, except OSF section, which is cracked. Spoiler and vents ok, but spoiler has a couple of the usual chips.
I'll do my best to remove the skirts etc, but you know how well they're stuck!

Tailgate. Looks to be mint again, will offer initially with spoiler and glass but can split if required.

Complete Le Mans 16v interior. All there and 99% mint. It really is clean! Only gripe I can see is a small tear in the OSR doorcard soft padding bit, the rest is great and MUST be saved! Way too rare to throw! (might be missing seatbelt stalks  )

Carpet. The deep pile plush type, and black. Looks unmarked.

Dashboard and clocks. Black dash in mint condition. Clocks given first refusal to Dave Rutherford, showing 116k.

16v steering wheel. Mint!

All electric motors. Inc sunroof, windows, wipers etc. I'm gonna try and bench test them as the loom is missing to hook them up normally.

Misc interior fittings. All the usual shite, pillar trims, mirrors, sunroof cover, headling etc. All good.

All windows. Green tinted and mint, inc sunroof.

Set of headlights, indicators and green tint rear lamps All seem to be good.

Suspension. Looks good, but need to inspect properly. All complete at the mo, and FDV, ram, pinion/rack and pressure regulator will be available.
Struts potentially available, depending on how hard it'll be to move it afterwards.
Rear suspension looks good, but sadly no way of moving car once it's off. If someone really needs any of this, let me know.

All underbody stuff like fuel tank, heat shields etc I can only assume are ok, but if you need anything in particular just ask.

Backbox is a genuine black one! But sadly has been cowboyed to the rest of the system, so the flange has been chopped. However you could weld the section from a standard curly pipe and you've got a proper valver one!

Anthracite Speedline alloys and tyres/proper flat faced spare with cage These aren't bad at all, although not perfect (not many are these days!). All tyres have plenty of tread and all centre caps present. Four bolts are missing, but they're same as Saxo VTS/Xantia Activa.
Rims are slightly aged but painted section is smooth. Perfectly servicable IMO.
I'm told someone on here has offered good money for these already, but I don't know who it is! So if you could let me know whether you want them or not for sure. Mr Chidlow has also expressed interested, so he's second on the list.

There is much more here, it's basically a complete car minus the engine/box units.

I can store these parts for a limited time once the car has gone, as I'm moving house in a month or two. Deposits/payments will be needed from those I don't know, which I think is fair given the situation.

Delivery may also be possible depending where you are at 50p/mile.

Thats about it! I'm gonna make a start on it tomorrow and this is on limited time. I'm not gonna strip everything from it, just what I think people might need.

As I said, not after mega bucks here, just enough to cover the initial costs of all this.

Drop me a pm if you need anything!
