The speakers are one all the time. Uless you take the plugs out. Yo can here the current. Cant find any amperfire. There was one when i saw the car at the supermarket. So if it was at auction just parked there as well. Then its taken its toll.

1) If someone has nicked the amplifier, then the speakers have been disconnected. If there is sound coming out of them, they have been connected to something else which is something "unusual" for a thief to do.
2) If the amplifier was in it when you bought it at the auction and missing when it was delivered to you then you surely have a claim against the auction house?

Hi Paul. It seems you're getting a bit confused with the car stereo. It's something that a lot of "car people" do, so don't feel bad about it. Luckily my background is in sound systems rather than cars, so I'm glad to help.
An amplifier would have to go in the boot of the BX, and the speakers have to be connected to it by wires in order for it to work. If there is no amplifier in the boot, and no wires there, then the speakers must be connected to the stereo.
Blaupunkt is a good make, offering good sound and features without the flashing lights that Sony etc make for chavs to put in their Saxos. They are original equipment on a lot of Citroens up until the XM. I fit Blaupunkts into all my cars, and have quite a system in my XM.
If you're hearing a hissing/humming sound from the speakers all the time, and you're sure the stereo isn't switched on, then you either have a faulty radio, or more likely do have an incorrectly wired amplifier, but haven't found it yet.
If you're going to Wetherby in a couple of weeks and you're still having problems I'd be glad to take a look for you.

Yep thanks for that. Ill try and find a amp somwhere. But i dont think theres one. And the radio was switch off. What im trying to say about the radioes in bxes. You can turn them on with out the ignition on. I also found out you can use the fag lighter as well. With out the car on. So im just wondering. If the speakers are conected to the radio. That bease you can turn the radioes. With out the ignition. If theres i tiny bit of power. Still going to the speakers.
I have a job now at last. Its working nites so all being well. Should be able to make it to this weatherby meet.

Hi Paul
Yes, it is possible (though not very sensible) to wire the stereo in the BX so it will work without the ignition being on. Whilst this means you can park up and listen to the radio without having to have all the other systems powered up, it also means that unless it is a fairly modern stereo with an automatic-off feature it will drain the battery if you forget to turn the stereo off when you leave the car.
These days, most cars have a standard wiring that includes ignition on/off sensing capabilities. The BX wiring predates that, so wiring the stereo can be done in a few ways, depending on who did it, and whether they wanted the ability to run the stereo with the rest of the car turned off, or wanted it to turn off when they turn the ignition off.
If your radio is an original Blaupunkt, then the power off switch will either be by turning the volume all the way down until it clicks, or by pushing the volume control in - most likely the first option.
Good news about the job! I hope to see you at Wetherby!

Got the car up and running. Its on the road taxed and insuered. The steering so nice and smooth. The ride is so nice and smooth.
There is 1 or 2 niggly bits though. When i first start it up. It coughts and smotters. And the accelerater. sticks a bit, It doesnt go up stright away. Theres a small deley. When you put the cluch down. It makes i slight niose. I think this is because. Of the pedle not fully up. Seem to have to rev it more. When your starting off. As my black one u can. Set off in 1st then 2nd then evern 3rd. If you on a smooth road. With out touching the pedel.
But its quiter then the black one.
