Waterproof cover for BX GTI
Waterproof cover for BX GTI
Hi,
I am looking for a properly fitting half cover for my BX. We have a blxxdy great Beech tree outside the house which this time of year sheds sap & millions of white flies all over the car. Leaves & bird mess i can put up with (just) but any longer than a couple of day's and i can't see out the windows or hardly open the doors. The wipers get stuck to the screen so buckets of warm water are needed.
I have checked on line but have yet to find any firm including the BX in their range.
Help!
(Don't say park somewhere else, easier said than done in this area.)
Thanks all.

Know the problem well. Observation/grumble here rather than suggestion, as I have to display a permit at all times, so a cover is not really an option.
Where I live the car parking - assuming you can find a space - is under a number of trees (sycamore, I think). At this time of year it takes no time at all for the car to be covered in sticky spots. To add to that, if the car is parked in the nearest street overnight because the car park is full (usual state of affairs) then it's a case of parking under Horse Chestnuts for the same effect, with the extra added ingredient of plenty of pigeons hyperactive on the guano front.
Thank god the seagulls don't get anywhere too close.

Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

I bought one on ebay from this seller : http://motors.shop.ebay.co.uk/items/_W0 ... sacat=9884
They dont list a BX specific one any more but they will know which one fits. I think it was a large size.

The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.
I got a generic one picked up from a local motor parts shop. The picture on the front was a BMW not that it means much the fact it said medium sized Car was enough for me.
Cost nz$30 so thats around 15 quid and does the job quite well for the car thats spending its time outside rather than protected in the garage.
Wouldnt a place like Halfrauds sell them still?

BX Half Cover
Thanks for all your replies, i have had a good look on the web and although there are plenty no-one (until now) shows the BX in their lists.
The best i found was Classic Additions Ltd wwwclassicadditions.co.uk
They do just about every car and have now added the BX to their list in the Hatchback range. Not custom made for a BX but as near as it makes little difference.
After some email discussion i ordered one middle afternoon & it arrived here in Exeter 8-30am the following morning. The only complaint was that the rear fixing elastic was too long, but a knot in it put that right, also, to keep the cover over the spoiler a couple of short loops sewn at the rear of the cover to take a couple of bungee cords to hook under the bumper sorted that.
All-in all bloody good. If i knew how to send photo's i would.
Cheers
John.

Cover
Hi Philip,
Have you found the other pics i have tried to post, they show more of the cover. It certainly "does everything it say's on the box".
I had not thought about the CCC National. To be honest i am not sure what it is or where.
Cheers from sunny Devon.

Yes, I just picked that one out.
To post the pics in your post, all you have to do is copy the IMG code (highlighted below) and paste it into your post on the forum:
Thus:
As for the National it's on the 19th July (Sunday) with the option of camping over on the Saturday night. We'll be there about 4 pm on Saturday, setting up.
No need to book. Just turn up!
It's in the show field on the A1198, immediately south of the main Wood Green Animal shelter...
