at the mo ive got a clio rt diesle 1.9 on a p plate its superb condition and realy good spec better then the top range bx the only one that can top it is the tzd with 4x4 and abs and aircon but very rear to find

ive always wanted one nut insurance will be a bit high and all of that ive see a couple on auto trader and ebay also classic car sites but havernt found the bx what i want tzi or tzd would be the good one i think

but my clio still a very good car

If you're a reasonable mechanic, or willing to learn. and really fancy a BX get one, they're great.

If no to any of the above however, unless you're prepared to spend £££ getting it up to standard or very lucky with the car you end up with, it may be a case of better the devil you know.

The question can only be answered by yourself. What Car, is a matter of personal choice.

i got no where to put one though leave my clio in a car park need a barn or garge ive got 250 saved up at the mo ive seen ppl getting rid for free but need work thogh

Hi Paul,
A running, roadworthy BX will probably cost upwards of £300, and one with a full 12 months MOT and needing very little or no work will probably set you back £500+.
The "Sales" section of this Club Forum is the best place to find a BX for sale, and you will usually find that Club members will sell to another member for a bit less than the price advertised in magazines or on eBay!

Having said that, there ARE still bargains from time to time, that do not belong to members here! Keep an eye on eBay, and magazine websites such as Classic Car.

One important thing to remember........
The cheaper the price, generally the more "little jobs" will need doing! Some of these "jobs" may be beyond the abilities of the average car DIYer, such as welding.

Also, there are generally reasons why someone puts a car up for sale,with little or no MOT! Usually because they know that it will fail!!

If you take a chance on a "cheapie", expect to have to do quite a bit of work to make it a good 'un! (and try to take someone with you who knows about BXs, if you go to see one advertised)

thanks seen one or 2 on ebay but mostley eastes or not that good ones plus you have to go a far track to get one as well dont see that much about now cant rmenber the last one i saw when i was out
the bx what i would love to have is 1991 on wards i think the last ones where v beast or a good one one with spec 4x4 bx or the digitil would be best

Sell the Clio, which I expect is worth more than a BX, then use the money to switch the insurance over + to buy a BX.

Well, I'm biased: I'd cart the Clio in a heartbeat for a BX!

If you're not up for mechanical stuff yourself and want as cheap as possible BX then I reckon you should forget the TZD etc. and get a BX without PAS and with the smaller 1.4 engine - less tech and less insurance cost. There were even some 1.4s that were well specced with central locking, electrics and such (someone on here will know the type I mean)

If you get the most loaded BX you might be lucky and get a super condition car but if not (and remember, the youngest BX is at least 14-15 years old now) then you'd have a world of pain getting it sorted.

Just a thought though.

Actually my BX is 25 years old and with low miles and service history it's not bad at all. But, I have just rebuilt the PAS divider valve, and replaced the anti roll bar links for starters.

DVLA says my car was made in 1996. So by some sort of error that makes my car the youngest BX in the country!

I was understanding the last BX off the production line was 1993 when the Xantia was rolled out? You probably find that it was one of the last BXs to be registered in the UK, not so much the last to be built but last out of storage.

My TZS was built in 1991 it sat in storage until it was registered in 1993!
