Howdy folks

Who do you get your BX bits from? Let me have any specialist contacts and I'll include them in the buyer's guide I'm writing.

Thanks to Tim Leech for his help so far, ensuring I'm not barking up the wrong tree!

I think you could be looking at a very short list nowadays.... no specialists around here that I'm aware of.

A knowledgeable motor factor is probably a much better bet than Eurocarparts or GSF now as the parts supply continues to dry up and some inferior-quality brands of aftermarket parts are increasingly stocked by those two sources (e.g. track-rod ends that are oversize).

Not that many branches of those have been specialists. As at any Citroen dealer, it's all down to the quality of the staff.

Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

The "BX For Sale / Wanted" section of this very Club is probably THE best source of parts now.

Buy whole cars and use them for spares works, except that the parts that are worn out are often the same on both cars!

My BX is a mongrel of at least 5 other cars.

haven't Lockwoods gone bust/dissapeared?

S and N motorfactors in Neston, Cheshire are pretty good, not a specialist but a small motor factors who seem to know where to get absolutley everything. They also sell stuff on eBay and are open on a Sunday! If your close to the shop they will often deliver.

I'd have thought if you wanted a buyers guide, asking some questions in this here forum will get you some pretty concise answers. I know i've bought 8 BX's in the last 5 years so i'm pretty small fry, but there are some who have good experience in buying BXs.

Lockwoods sold up a few years ago, I believe after being bought up by GSF or ECP. Malcolm has since reopened with a slightly different name, and the same helpful and knowledgeable service.

I'll have to give S and N a go, they sound useful...

Thanks folks. The guide is written now based mainly on my own experiences (having owned two, one of which nicely displayed most faults as it was a complete shed of a 16v) and some input from Tim Leech.

As often happens however, it has reignited by love of the BoXy Citroen! Test drove a BX 19TXD estate on Monday but £695 seems steep for 193k, even though it was pretty tidy (though some worrying bubbling on the sills around the B post).

If anyone fancies a 1996 Subaru Legacy estate (or a fairly ropey Alfa 164 V6 - both cars have T&T) and wants to send a BX my way, do let me know!
