Well done Carl on getting those doors open. I think that the GTI in the barn has the same interior colour scheme as your car and plenty of window motors are lying about. I'll give you a call

I have already fitted a bonnet I found there yesterday on my TRD which is plastic short-nosed as opposed to the old metal long-nosed one that it came with originally and was dented ( that is why I never photographed it from the front!). It seems that my theory was correct - the engine runs slightly cooler with the better ventilation afforded by the shorter nosed bonnet ( today the thermometer at the front of our house was reading 36 degrees at 1 PM, so all cooling improvements are welcomed).
I wanted to take some pics of the now complete TRD and of the barn but the dear wife always has our only camera with her taking thousands of pics of the baby and her baby friends! Well, it keeps her happy :D

I've had a few interested people contacting me regarding this 'barn of bits.' The fact is, I've got nothing else to report. I haven't been back there since summer.
I've bumped into the owner a few times and I always say : Ok, I'll come this weekend and he always has some excuse - he has to ask his brother ( who's apparently the co-owner) or he's busy.
Then I saw him two days ago and he told me that he has to clear all the BX and Citroen stuff immediately. I said ' I'll come on Saturday, it's Ok with your brother now?'
'No' he says and he'll phone me 'sometime in December' and so it goes on.. sort of typical hoarder mentality! He's got literally tons of stuff that he's being swamped by including mopeds in his living room but he can't process it all.

Well the barn isn't going anywhere and I don't reckon the crap within is either. As soon as I'm back in there I'll report back..

This thing finally happened. The bloke - Bernhard - phoned me last Friday night and said that everything was ready to go. It's his brother who he shares the barn with that's got him into action..

So several trips back and forth with a large trailer this weekend and I've got a shit load of BX parts, not all of which are useful to me really, but the deal was that I had to take the lot.

- numerous bonnets/tailgates/doors
- thirty plus front lights and rear light clusters
- nearly new complete rear axle removed from a GT that crashed days after registration
- many bumpers half of which are new and unsprayed
- twenty(!) Leader wheel covers ( anymore need any?)
- some new body panels inc. total inner wing section between bumper and scuttle where stands the LHM tank
- two new rear window louvres inc. still packaged mounting set
- two sets of 'Swift 2' alloys minus covers
- set of mid 80s Postert/Ronal alloys ( rarest of the rare)
- boxes and boxes of miscellaneous
- ABS stuff - driveshafts and controllers

No struts were found - he thinks these were given away before.

Also, still to collect - a brand new ZF auto box. Ordered and unused. I don't need it.

I've got to go through it and rationalise it as it's taking up a lot of space. I'll try to take a photo or two tomorrow.

Todd,

Excellent find :D

I would be interested in several of those items that you list. Are you planning to sell them and will you be making a list of people interested in each item :?:

Todd, i'd be intrested in a set of swift's, abs driveshafts (both sides if you have them?) & front & rear bumpers (new unsprayed one's if available, otherwise nice shiny mint white one's would be better, i don't want much do i  ).

Erm, only difficulty i can see is postage costs   Will you be coming over to Blighty anytime soon?

PM me with cost's etc....

interested in the rear louvres, and the wind deflector, if its for the sunroof! ALso, if there is a LH monsson rain shield, would love one too!

But i am in NZ, so shipping will be an arse- no drama if you dont want the drama! PM me if you interested.

Have friends and fam in Germany and france too if that is easier!

Hi Todd,
What a great find!
I'd be interested in wind deflectors for the front windows, as well as any estate-specific bits (rear lights, rear wings etc). Maybe some of that 'miscellaneous' box too!
Whereabouts are you?
