BX ignition plug leads

Post by Aerodynamica »

Ello darlinz, I sourced a cheap set of plug leads today but found that although listed as 'BX 1.6 etc...' the date was from 1987 onwards.

Mine being a 1984. I took one of them out to the car to look at the fitting and the only difference i could detect was that the rubberised grommet that plugs the spark plug tube top was a different shape. It would fit seemingly but it appears to have an extra profile edge that goes round the top.

Would anyone know if these are actually WRONG for the car? I mean the will fit and they are the right lengths and connections including the one odd straight lead from the dizzy cap next to the 3 elbow ones.

Any thoughts?

its probably just a diference in make of the leads, bougicord are the OE makers, as long as they are the corect length and fit corectly at both ends they should be fine

Thanks, I got them anyway and the plug ends fit fine - all lengths correct.

New plugs, leads and new distributor (which has been manufactured wrong and can't be fitted yet! but more of that next week when I have the opportunity to tell the story!)
