my first bx is parked out side !

hi guys.after training as a citroen mechanic 14 years ago i have finally bought my first bx.its a 1.7 tzd estate origanly from scotland but now on irish plates.i'm looking forward to picking your brains as i am very very rusty on citroen problems and soloutions ! thanks :D

Nice purchase - very popular the ol' Tizzydee estate. I've only recently come back to the forum now I have a BX again. Very helpful!

thanks guys.hope i haven't bitten off more than i can chew with this car !the car cost me less than an average weekend break so i think she's worth the gamble :D .bx's are like hens teeth now in southern ireland :(

Very rare mk1 allys as well, if you need to raise a few quid you could always sell them to raise funds to keep the beast back on the road :D

Unfortunately these are not Mk1 alloys, but painted Mk3 alloys. We see that a lot as well here in the Netherlands. :roll:

However, very nice BX estate. The colour goes well with the TZDs. \:D/

Eh? In the UK we have those alloys which we refer to as mk1's as they were fitted to Mk1 Bx's, the mk2 Bx's had speedlines fitted.

Can you explain what you meant xbxg?

The center part of these alloys is different between Mk1 and Mk3.

These are genuine Mk1. I bought these in mint condition in 2003 and fitted them to my BX GT:

These are regular Mk3 alloys, which have often been painted gray.

Righto, seems to be a difference in language being used, when i was referring to mk1 alloys it was with reference to the MK1 bx, not the specific variations of the alloys that were available.

To be honest, i'm unsure as to what version (that you are referencing to) was available in the uk, i think it would be the MK1. What are the Mk2's like? & please tell me there isnt a mk4? :lol:

So in essence, the difference between the mk1 & mk3 is that there isnt really a centre cap on the mk1, except the small one in the centre between the wheel bolts, whereas on the mk3 there is a large centre cap which goes around the outside of the wheel bolts & its either silver or if original, in black. Have i gotten that right?

Nevertheless, the alloys go well on the gray BX estate of the topic starter.

It's a myth that Speedlines were the only alloy wheels on UK models. In the Citroen brochures of the time you'll only see GTis and 16Vs with Speedlines.

The type of wheels on estate gav's TZD (a UK model) can be seen on a 19TZD in a Citroen brochure I have to hand. The caption reads "Alloy wheels illustrated available as an extra cost option on BX TZ models".
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

There was probably a cross over point with the non speedline alloy's being available, must be almost as rare to see them as an original option on a mk2 bx as the optional fitment to the mk1 bx. Infact, were they ever standard on any Mk1 bx?

I do remember my dad having the MK1 alloy as referred to by our Dutch friend fitted to my Dad's MK1 16trs, however this was in Switzerland so may have been standard fit rather than an option? Either way it did make the car look smarter than standard steelies.
