Helix Garage Chemlsford

Post by Tim Leech »

My 19TZi was supplied new by helix garage in chelmsford, which sadly ceased trading last year, she still wears her original dealer sticker but has lost the original plates being replaced by some nasty plain euroscript ones.

So if anyone out there in BX land also has a car supplied from them complete with original plate/s I would love to see what they look like please so I can copy the logo/script etc and get some made up.

Phil, if you visit edwards sometime if you could keep your eyes peeled!

Thanks

I'll ask: by the way, the garage - well the show room plus a service bay - has been taken over by new management, (but the old parts/main service garage part is derelict now), so it might be worth contacting them. The guy I met there was a fan of 'the old BX'.

I can't seem to find a number that isn't the old Citroen Dealership one, but maybe they've retained it?01245455600?

You may be more successful asking on a wider Citroen forum rather than just BX owners.

Ironically, during one of my (rare!) vainer moments last year I replaced the number plates with plain ones as I thought it looked better without dealer advertising all over the plates. (I had long since removed the sticker from the rear window...)
Does this mean I've devalued it?

You might have a problem with that unless you have some helpful contacts - last time I checked it was a legal requirement on the person / company who made the plates to put their name in a specific place at the bottom of the plates - presumably so the plod can check up on them.

Reason I was reseaching this - I wanted to 'paint' the numberplate onto the tailgate - I found that if I did this I'd have to put my name at the bottom of the plate as its 'manufacturer' !

There is a simple and legal way round this number plate supplier name problem,

All Tim has to do is make the plates up, and change his name by deed poll to " Helix Garage Chelmsford "

simples

Haha, good idea, or I could just change it to H371HLP and I would have my own plate, cars registered before 2001 dont legally have to display the postcode on the number plate of the plate supplier/maker although all new plates made up now should have it somewhere. As its an old car people dont bother.
