I was looking at these the other day and wondering the same?
Forced induction must help any motor breath more easily but if you increase intake would the exhaust system also have to be inproved ?

I'd find it more credible if they posted some performance figures.

I don\'t see that pumping any quicker than a decent valver draws in breath anyway. If anything, it\'d be a hinderance IMO.

Proper superchargers run at high pressures (in comparison). This looks like a hairdryer motor with an air filter bolted to it. I\'d need to see proof of that working, but without it I\'d place it high up on the list with fake dump valves and \'turbo\' whistlers for N/A engines.

I think it unlikely...

Despite

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vortex

we still don't know a great deal about why odd things happen in a vortex - a bit like gravity - we have some of the equations but we still don't know why.

Not that that's particularly relevant - it's a snail fan and won't produce a vortex unless there's a swirl device at the output - and there doesn't look to be enough room for one.

Unlikely IMHO to make any difference to any engine size > 1 litre.

It's fused at 5A so likely to be less powerful than the average heater blower. It might overcome some of the losses in the induction system but that's about all.

And at £150 it's about 10 times the price of a decent snail fan. I've heard that snake oil can be used instead of LHM :-)

More air = need more fuel. If it's providing enough air to make a significant difference (which I doubt with a motor drawing less than 5 amps) then it would be outside the air/fuel map in the ECU...

bah ha ha!
I wonder if anyone has actually been stupid enough to buy one of these?

You'd be better off getting one of those little hand fans and shoving that in the air filter box.

A con in my opinion. I have a very similar device that I plug into my cigar lighter to pump up my inflatable mattress. Hardly cutting edge perfomance enhancement!

Wot a load of bollocks.

Mate, you could be selling them on the bay! Bound to give you an extra 50 on the floor!

It's a "smoke & mirrors" sale! There is no technical specification listed as to what psi it can achieve at different engine speeds and neither does it say what volume of air in cfm or their metric equivalents it can handle.
It looks no more that a centrifugal fan and as Kitch mentions it is likely to impair the standard engine performance rather than enhance it.
Superchargers are normally driven by the engine so that the higher your engine speed the higher the power boost that is possible.

Na, it wouldn't fit in the engine bay, you would have to take the passenger seat out and feed the pipes throught the bulkhead!
