Scarecrow and I are heading up the A11 to the other side of Norwich to collect the ZX. I'm strangely excited. ZXs are entirely free of charisma, but the 1.9 turbo lump and the passive rear axle steering should be a fun combination. It's also Steve's chance to thrash Swampy a bit (although the A11 is not exactly "thrashing" territory). It's just us, proper boys' road trip (ZX has already been nicknamed Uncle Monty, work the reference out yourselves).
I'm pretty hopeful that it's a decent car. Wish us luck.

I've been driving around like a fool being dragged along behind an out of control lawnmower 
It's a bit of a nack hitting the sweet spot through every gear, but I'll get it. I had an S-Max in my sights but changed up into second too soon and was left to wallow in the wreck of my own ego... Next time buddy 
Seventy will be a nice cruising speed for the long hack tomorrow. I hope Radio 4 works!

Monty is now outside its new home. It ran like a fat boy with asthma for the first 5 miles, until we cleared all the 10-miles-per-day-at-30mph-for-a-year soot out of its tubes. Then it was a fast and jam free run back from Norwich to Medway. Oh, apart from being stopped by Norwich Constab for having my fogs on - they've got guns in Norfolk. The copper looked at Steve in the BX behind us and asked "is this lady with you sir?"
The good bits: 1.9 Turbo, goes like a scalded cat, especially after *ahem* 70mph. Good solid body work, found a couple of beginning rust spots, but it's very minor. Nice clean interior in good nick. Radio and CD player with stonking sound. It's an estate.
The bad bits: It's a silver ZX *meh*

ZX TDs are a right hoot. It's worth noting....
They're prone to rot in the front inner wing seam (where have we heard that before??).
If the rear seems to squirm round corners or there is any untoward knocking from the back, it needs new subframe mounts. It should stick to the road like the proverbial to the blanket!
We'd have had another one when ours failed its MOT and needed a load of welding and full brake rebuild - but for the pending arrival of junior. So we bought a Picasohoh instead....
