Rather a low value, however at least you've agreed a settlement & get to keep your car to hopefully fix up.

EXCELLENT news, Phil. It really would've been sad to see The Green Hornet go so ignominiously...

Now 300k miles is do-able

We came to a mutually agreed settlement of £375 and i get to keep the car.
So The Green Hornet looks to be safe until i start looking deeper into the damage.
But even the engineer said it did not look too serious apart from the front panel............
Hi Phil,
Just out of interest was the cash settlement without the vehicle being placed on a Cat. C or D write off, because if it has a VIC marker set against it (Cat. C write off) , that's going to cost you £40 ?

The reason for asking, is because I'm at logger heads argue:-( with the woman's insurer who hit my XM (With a big Fook-off Jeep Grand Cherokee) 3 week's ago when it was parked on the road in front off my house minding it's own business !

The damage/repair to my vehicle is £1800 and the bar-steward insurers (LV) only want to give me £650 but from that I'd loose £40 for the local VOSA to just check the vin no. and reg. no. for the 'VIC' check as they want to place it on a Cat. C write off (It's currently is on a Cat. D from an un-insured driver claim from 2007 which again I was NOT at fault).

Plus then I've got the hassle of trying to get my car put right with the rest which would only pay for the labour/paint, as I'd have to provide/pay for the parts and then it would be on a Cat. C too

I'm totally PI$$ED off with the way insurance company's treat 3rd parties who have had their pride and joy damaged by other careless idiot's who have been let loose on the roads :!:

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Hi
Yes i feel much better knowing that the Green Hornet can be saved to do the Citroen Classic Challenge. :D
And i have an alternative vehicle i was given a 1.4 auto Renault Clio by my nephew in exchange for my Vauxhall Cavalier a couple of years ago.
It needs a little TLC and an MOT.
Then i can take the Green Hornet off the road( OH sorry it's allready off the road)
I have at the moment got the Mundano until the 19th of the month.
So it's rush time to get the Clio done.
But at least the Green Hornet is safe.
And yes Tim Half a million is the target. 8)

Regards and Thanks for all your support Phil/Kermit ^^bx> ^^ ^^

PS another good thing about the mundano it seems to make diesel.
When i left home on sunday morning to go and watch the London To Brighton veteran cars it said i had 595 miles till empty.
Now 124 miles later it says i have 561 miles till empty.
Computers AH!!!!!!!!!!.

Hi
I have stripped out as much as possible and the damage is repairable.
Some minor chassis damage but this is limited to NSF and can be tugged and realigned fairly easily.
The clio which was my alternative is in need of quite a bit of work to get it through an MOT.
So i am going to try and find a cheep runner in the local area to see me through when the hire car has to go back.

RXBX
PM Phil Chidlow because he had a similar situation earlier this year when his BX was hit outside his house much the same as yours.
As with yours his car was parked and therefore he was not at fault.
As for mine the engineer said that with the cash settlement it would probably not be catagorised.

Regards Phil/kermit.

Hi all
A good friend of mine came round today and dropped off his Porta power kit and i have manged to reverse some of the lower chassis damage.
Both front wing's now line up wth the bonnet and the bonnet now shuts.
The front cross member and bumper support beam will have to be cut out and replaced.
I will take some pictures and send them to Phil C

Regards Kermit / Phil B

Hi Chris
THATS FANTASTIC.
Have you got a nearside front wing, bonnet, and bumper as well.
The front end is relatively straight now i have jacked it out to where it was.
It still needs part of the NSF chassis leg.
But it is well on the way to being back to it's old self again.

I was going to chop the front off complete with a run of both chassis legs, wherever I can the cutter in really.

The front end is complete yes, so not a problem.

Hi Tim
Yes Chris has been a star and Smiffy i will be down there like a rat up a drainpipe to get all the parts.
I will be carrying beer gifts for both in payment and thanks for the rapid turn around of this disasterous incident. ~ale~ beers beers
Vanny has also been a star in posting his body manual pages on his BX project page.
Very helpful. =D>

well, they are French...
Although I am gaining an unnatural taste for La Roule and other French cheeses, and I've even taken to drinking the odd glass of wine...
Oh dear..
Anyhow, I'll have the front in bits by the weekend mate, so I'll pop you PM when it's good to go.
