Does your car have a soul

Post by jacksun1987 »

I know this is bad. But i put a 100 pound deposite on a 06 mondeo ghia tdi. The sad if i changed my mind they would give my deposite back. Still waiting for it.
So last week my electric mirror stopped working completley. Then just this weekend. I spent 150 pound on my bx for the suspansion. Got the lhm leak sorted out. New back sphieres. And the hieght needed adgusting The ride felt so differnt.
Then i press my botton for the electric mirror. It was now working.

So basically When i started looking at cars. Things started to go wrong. Then when i get some things sorted out on the car. And part my hart back in the car. It started working againe. Strange

As anything happerned to you like that.

oh yes, all BX's are infact females. With soul, angry temprament and vitriol.

They know if you've been unfaithful with another car, and reward you with a great drive if you stroke them lovingly like a good (or bad!) woman.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Its like the other week. The knob for the fan came off. it still worked but i could pull it out. couple of days later was using it. Then it went back in place.

Ohhh ya. When i took my car in i got a shitty ax 1 liter petrol. To drive went like a rocket. Could not belive it. It look like shit. sounded like shit lol. Lernt another lession there. Dont juge a car on its apperance. Or what size engine it is. Wonder what a bx 1.4 be like. or even a ax 1.4. Its made me change my mind about petrols. Get a bx 1.4 as a back up. Cheaper to run.

The later 1.4's at least are great. The performance is at least as good as the 19RD I had years ago, but with better handling (lighter front end) and cheaper tax & insurance. There's also less to go wrong and they seem to be cheap as chips both to buy and maintain. They also do 35-40mpg and will even tow a loaded car transporter trailer (albiet slowly up hills).

My BX has a soul, and it hates me... It shredded it's alternator belt to day on the way to mums, we played the 'drive-home-with-no-lights-on-and-just-enough-electricity-to-give-a-spark-below-2500-rpm' and then I thought it must be illegal to drive around in the dark with no lights or indicators, and I have to drive past a police station to get home... It also screams at me, I think the cambelt bearings need changing.

Fortunaltey the HP pump belt is fine.

Anyone got a spare alternator belt for a 1989 BX14 that could be collected tommorow? I live in yeovil, somerset. I'm supposed to be going back to uni sunday night...

Sorry, just had to change my belt myself, although if there's a motor factor in Yeovil that's any good they should be able to supply you one for a few quid!

If there's a bearing going anywhere on the cambelt route, get that changed now! If that breaks it'll be expensive - I've known a BX14 bend almost every valve in the head at tickover and a 1.4 ZX write it's engine off when the belt failed on start up  !

There are a few, problem is that nothing to do with cars opens on a bloody sunday around here.

And i've had to swap my insurance back to my astra after only a few weeks of citroen-ness, so will be able toplay with my new carb, alternator and will get a cambelt kit too now you've told me that  , thanks citsncycles!

I have to say, the BX really does have the character of a grumpy menopausal woman.

Or perhaps that's just the 19 TXD? :)

Think mine is posessed! Went out to a autojumble at Garstang yesterday 100 yards down the road the drivers window shot up and down on it's own and then the digital clock display re-materialised as if by magic. Plus the original Blaupunkt Atlanta radio cassette only receives French radio stations via long wave! Now started calling it Damien!

Had some eBay purchases to pick up at the weekend - a 260 mile round trip organised with not quite enough time so I had to make up some time on the journey. So the M40, M6, and M1 had to be taken at 75+ for me to get to places on time - which I did ok.

The BX performed faultlessly - until the last half mile when a gearshift link fell off and left me in second - so what was that little hissy all about :-)
