Bad luck Phil :( You'll get it fixed up again soon enough, and whilst it's off the road at least it won't be getting salted (rather than asalted

I would have given chase I'm afraid  I suspect a large percentage of drivers are driving whilst uninsured, but someone should have taught him that failing to stop after an accident is not acceptable (come to think of it, failing to stop before an accident was the main problem here). What if someone was hurt? What a twat.

If he was driving his mum's car uninsured she's gonna be in the shit too.

Part of the reason I wouldn't take my car out this morning is the utter uselessness of people who try to drive in the snow around here. I saw a guy come sliding around a corner in his Pajero today - basically drifting deliberately. Ten minutes earlier I'd been laughing at a bunch of kids sledging down the same hill... Sometimes I just don't like other people

I have to agree totally with Scarecrow
Having been sidlined by the accident in the Green Hornet i am at the moment a pedestrian.
Alternative transport needing work for the MOT which is nearly done but on hold due to the weather.
And the standard of driving in these adverse conditions makes me cringe.
Mostly young drivers who think the only way to get around is to use as much throttle as possible all the time.
Unfortunately it is somebody else like Phil who gets involved in this stupidity through no fault on his part.
The trouble is that 9 times out of 10 they get away with it and think they are bullet proof.
They need their licences taking away and not given back until they pass a skid pan driving course of at least 2 days.
And get to watch videos of serious accidents as a result of the bad thoughtless driving that they think is cool.
Then maybe when they come to reinsure their max'd up heap again it is so expensive that they can't afford it.
And the rest of us don't have to put up with huge increases in premiums just for driving sensibly.

OK i have had my rant for the year.

Regards Kermit/Phil

@citroen7, thanks! I'll let you know if your kind offer is needed. 8)

@ Mick; well every cloud has a silver lining!

Good time to get the wire brush out and sort that corrosion in the inner wing before it becomes a large problem too.
Ok, not a nice way to find out, but..

I do have some bumpers, but none of them are anything like "mint" sadly.

I hate driving in the snow for this very reason, and this reason alone, whilst I'm confident in the snow, and lets tar all with the same brush, plenty of other people are aswell, but it only takes one, especially in the current conditions to cause a massive accident.

I cant believe the way I was being tailgated today, yesterday, the day before etc etc, had I fucked up and lost it they'd have followed, had I just lifted oiff they'd be in my boot. Utter madness.

Ta. I will get a bumper locally - assuming the one from Edwards is OK. If not, I will cast the net further afield. Thanks for all the offers of parts. =D>

Chris, I fully intend to get that rust treated or cut out as appropriate. The boot floor is welded to Bismark levels and the hanger isn't going anywhere; just need to sort the other areas as you point out. And although not a nice way to find out; timely nonetheless.

I reckon it'll be ok witha wire brush, some zinc primer, red oxide, stone guard kinda thing, doesn't look too bad yet.

I'll have a look see at the weekend for a bumper, I may have a good one, I'm pretty sure I've got a good red one, but thats on a promise to Bandit.

I have a good estate one, but that really doesn't help..

it might be worth giveing Remy at Medway citroen a call, as a while back he was addvertiseing loads of citroen panels for sale very cheap, as they were taking up space,

he was offering doors for 5 to 10 quid depending on there condition,

i bought a Xant estate rear door from him for 10 quid,

so he might have other body bits as well,

That's a great find - I will place a bid straightaway... likely won't get it for £20 but as it's all going through the insurance I'm not too worried.

I got the exhaust replaced (the three rear-most parts) with Walker parts this morning, so I can at least drive the car. To be honest I surprised I could phone ATS yesterday pm and have the parts supplied and fitted by lunchtime today. Good service.

I managed to save the mud flap and bumper trim at the time of the incident, and I have another rear light (the one on there has lost a bit off the bottom) so once I have the money through (and a new bumper of course) it's down to the body shop. There will be some disassembly, fabrication, welding, rust cutting/killing, oxiding, panel bending, priming, spraying assembly and so on... and hopefully the car will be in better condition than before (the exhaust needed doing anyway!).

If I do win the bumper, is there anyone who would be able to pick it up and rendezvous with me - in exchange for fuel money and beer tokens - somewhere like Letchworth?
