Thats looking like one heavy duty box to me, surprising they were seen as the weak point back when they were being used in anger.

AFAIK the weakest point were the brakes when the car was actually going.

Merde indeed apparently! The BX4TC crashed out due to brake failure on at least one occasion - and it only raced 6 times...

I'm afraid I can't see the link as I don't have a fasces book account.
But, if it's the 4 wheel drive box and transfer, I have recently designed a repair for the failing splines that lose drive.
I have a failed box from Brian King, which is now stripped and the offending parts fitted in a jig ready for machining. I have not been successful in arranging for this to be done yet, but hopefully, in the new year I will complete this.
Once completed it will not fail again.
I will return the unit to Brian once done and he is then at liberty to do with it what he likes, but hopefully he will refit the units to test it out.
If anyone has a defunct 4x4 I will be happy to explain the repair.
