Hi Everyone, I'm new here.

Post by BX-pert »

Hello everyone. My name's Steve. I worked for Citroen for 10 years during the AX, BX, CX, Visa, LNA era. I specialised in the BX and when when I came across this website I was delighted to see so many of you still using my all time favourite car. I've had a BX14 and a BX17TZD (I currently use a Xantia).
I have signed up because at one time of day, I can honestly say there was nothing I didn't know about a BX. I still have all my factory training manuals, and I learned a few tricks along the way too. So if I can be of any assistance to you all, I'd be delighted to share my knowledge with you. (Bearing in mind this was 20 years ago, and the old brain 'aint what it used to be!)
If K250 HUM (BX17 TZD) is still out there, I'd love to know.

Welcome aboard Steve - nice to see you here. Have you any plans to buy another BX? They're a lot less grief than Xantias in my experience!

Welcome Steve

K250HUM is no longer listed on DVLA's website, so either its had a private plate added or more likely its been scraped sadly.

If theres nothing you dont know about BX's then you will be a popular guy on here....

Welcome Steve, and here's a question for you. Why the hell did they use so many green and yellow wires in the loom?!

The looms could have been made from a single colour. The idea was to be able to identify a problem using only the manual, then go to exactly the right connector and identify the wire position. On the training course the final test was to be given a list of 4 faults, which you had to be able to approach the test car, and hit the fault first time after comparing what worked and what didn't against the wiring diagram. I found it worked well in practice.

So, which part of Citroen UK did you work at then Steve :?: My boss was a bit tight

I was at Mark Pritchard Motors, Derby. It eventually was bought out by Bristol St long after I'd departed. It was a good place to work until the advent of the 'bean counters'.

Hi Vince.
You didn't miss much, they broke your arms in specific places to enable you to fit heater hoses and GS exhaust downpipes, other than that it was mostly free beer and loose women. :o)
Did you enter the 'Top Team' competitions? I didn't get the Paris trip, but I did get the boom box & CD player (oh and the mug & watch)
Happy days....I think.

Welcome Steve, good to have a new member who knows what they are doing. I'm looking forward to hearing your tips/advice on various queries that come up regularly :)

All you need now is to get a BX & then come to some car meets :) If you must, we'll allow you to turn up in your xantia, hehe, just joking.

Back in 1987 just as the AX was being launched, I worked for Hursley Hill Garage, Bristol. they were one of Bristols 2 Citroen main dealers. It was just at the right time to still see a Visa GTi, and a CX25GTi turbo2 new in the showroom. The Visa petrol had not yet been deleted, the BX 16v (phase 1) had just been introduced, but the turbo-d was still in the future!
