Awesome wheels

Post by saintjamesy89 »

Just saw these on ebay, on thought how cool they'd look on a BX! They wouldn't fit though at 4x100...

As a fully paid up BX wheel nazi - strangely enough - I agree! Very retro. 8)

They remind me of a style of wheel that Kamei used to do in the '80s.

With some adaptors it would probably be spaced out enough to correct that 33mm offset.

Maybe it's just me, but all these aftermarket wheels from the 80's look a bit 'naff' to me. Just because something's old and rare, doesn't make it look good. Cool, maybe. Good? No, they look awful!

That wonderful catch-all 'Retro'... but match quite well, the aesthetic of the period and the BX dare I say. But it is all so subjective!

Well, in truth I couldn't say the BX is a good looking car. I could say I like the way it looks, but to say it's handsome would be lying.

But looks don't matter to me.....engineering matterz.

I agree, i don't think the BX is a particularly attractive looking car, there are plenty of other citroen's as well as other marques that are nicer looking. However, its angular looks are pleasing to my eye, its a distinctive car with plenty of clever design features & so stands out from the crowd. I'm quite happy to drive something different & unusual & which i find fun to drive.

Yeah that's pretty much the way I look at it. Citroen have made some good looking cars over the years, but I couldn't class the SM, GS or XM as "attractive." Impressive, interesting and appealing yes, but attractive or handsome? Nah.

TA, DS and CX though.......just good looking. I would extend that to the earliest C4 models, the C6, Xantia (for about a year after it came out) and the mk1 VT* models of the Saxo, which proportionally look brilliant (probably because they're a Peugeot really!)

I must disagree with you about the SM, i think it looks superb & would deffo be on my list of cars to have if 6 numbers came up. Infact i'd probably have it as a daily driver :)

Johnathan Meades described the Citroen XM as the last truly gothic car and who are we to argue!!

I love the SM, it's one of my favourite cars, possibly my favourite in fact.

But although some aspects of the styling are fantastic, the overall package is......weird!

Maybe I'm wrong? If I owned one I probably wouldn't be able to stop taking pics of it!
