Advice on best way to sell...

Post by V1ckst3r »

Hi,
Just joined this forum as my Nan has owned her Citroen BX from new and at the ripe old age of 91, has finally decided to hand over the keys to her 'baby' for one final time....
She's had it from new and has really looked after it. The mileage is under 40k and it's just had its MOT and a new battery.
She's keen for someone to have it who will love it just as much as she has! I think it would do well on an auction site due to it's condition - any ideas on a guide price please?
Its a 1994 Citroen BX turbo diesel hatchback in racing green.
Any advice is gratefully appreciated!
Kind regards.

Unfortunately BX prices are still quite low & I was going to say £1000-£1200 but with that mileage and genuine one owner it is quite unique. If it has been garaged and is in rust free original condition then this could well fetch £2000-£4000 + if advertised correctly. I would happily pay £1200 all day long which is normaly top money for a TZD Turbo.
Very good luck with the sale.

Sounds lovely - Kevan's estimation of the value is about spot on. Do you have any pics of the car? The best place to sell might be 'car and classic' as opposed to ebay. Lastly, are you sure it's a '94? '92 was the last year of manufacture for hatches although I suppose it could have hung around unregistered 'til '94?

If you go for an auction sale I'd start at around 1500 quid and wouldn't want to take less than 1800 (assuming it's a rust free, low mileage minter). If there's a couple of bidders scrapping over it it might make 3 grand plus. Good luck with it! 8)

Defender, thanks for that. Yes it's been garaged and is rust free I think. All she said to me earlier was that it's in great nick inside, but there's a small dent somewhere in the bodywork which she says could be pushed out. I'll have a proper look at it in the Spring and take pics etc coz I know she doesnt want to sell it before her tax runs out in June!
£2-4K sounds lovely so I think I'll be spending some time with the cloth and polish to get it looking its best...!

Paul, hi! I dont have any pics yet - see above comment! She told me it's '94 but I guess she could be wrong? Her mind is still pretty darned sharp but as she's 91 I'll let her off if she's gotten a bit muddled... I check the docs when I next see her.

It could quite easily be a 94: look at my avatar, mimes a 96  If you want to get top money it will need to be taxed with a full MOT.
