I'd be happy to send a scan of the article by PM. I think posting the whole article on a public forum, while not technically a breech of copyright (I don't think?) is a bit cheeky when the magazine is still current.

It most likely is breach of copyright and at the very least you should ask prior permission of the publishers.

My thought is that, as Practical Classics saw it fit to cover the BX in such a way, we should not be so churlish to circulate the material - we should instead encourage fans of the BX to part with a few quid and support the publication and not try to circumvent intellectual copyright ;)

Probably safer & a lot less hassle to not post it up. Are there any time limits on intellectual property/copyright?

Ha ha! I agree it's seemingly trivial... But as I rely upon the integrity and protection of copyright in what I do, it is worth being supportive of it. After all it cost the magazine a lot to create the article, and if, in the end they can't make money out of doing these model-specific guides they'll stop doing them.

Sorry I feel fairly strongly about copyright protection. ;)

Also, are members really so tight as to not be willing to pay a fiver? And it's not like it's vital previously unknown information lol

As more of an industrial designer, I'm with Philip on this one. It's a PITA when someone just 'copies' your work or distributes it free. Bet software writers feel the same too... :wink:

Duration of copyright
The 1988 Copyright, Designs and Patents Act states the duration of copyright as;
For literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works
70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the last remaining author of the work dies.
If the author is unknown, copyright will last for 70 years from end of the calendar year in which the work was created, although if it is made available to the public during that time, (by publication, authorised performance, broadcast, exhibition, etc.), then the duration will be 70 years from the end of the year that the work was first made available.

Likewise as one who is involved with licensing images on a daily basis.
