I'm afraid I have to tell you that Malcolm passed away last night. From the sounds of it he fought the illness for a good while, but sadly to no avail.

Others knew him a lot better than I did, but for me he was an ever present source of advice on the forum, and good to chat to on the few occasions we met. I remember him recounting the story of how he lost his finger - if I recall correctly helping someone out with their fan belt.

The Citroen community has lost a great source of knowledge, and a real character. And I doubt we'll ever see as many smilies in one posts ever again! RIP Malcolm.

Very sad news for all. I never really had any dealings with him, but it is clear he had a depth of knowledge that might be irreplaceable for the freedom to access it.

As to finger lose to a fan belt system, I carry a scar today where my brother turned the engine over while I was fixing his. It hit the bone just below index finger first joint, so close to passing through the joint. We both are car nuts, but a moments inattention is all it takes. Take care out there.

A very sad and tragic day.

I have known Malcolm since the very beginnings of my Citroen ownership and involvement in the forums...

Malcolm was a great bloke with a sharp wit, ever helpful and perfect of nature...

My memories of him will always be of his huge spirit, best seen in his fight against his dyslexia and the huge improvements we saw in his writings over the years.

He made us all laugh with his percywotsit and his ongoing fights with diagnostic kit he called his DISLEXIA...

I have my own special memorial to Malcolm sitting on my workshop bench. The parts to make my sphere tester were given to me by Malcolm. Every time I look at it and use it I'll be thinking of you Malc!

Rest in peace Malcolm, and make sure you do a good job of looking after St. Peter's GS. Gosh, he's lucky now to have you as his chief mechanic.

For the rest of us a tragic loss... Malc, you going to be missed...

I know that Malcom will be very widely missed by many of the Citroen community. I only met Malcom on a couple of occasions – he was tremendous fount of knowledge. My most sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad news indeed. Although I never met him, it was more than obvious his knowledge was truly in depth and he was very generous in sharing. Also his sense of humour was evident in the banter on the Forum.

Sincere condolences to family and friends. I count myself lucky to have known him if only through this great Forum.

A loss like this is always a shock, more so when it strikes within a month. One can only assume that he had been unknowingly living with this condition for a while and it was therefore advanced at the point of diagnosis.

We'll miss his regular and informative postings along with a wry smile at some of the words used.
