BX ESTATE STOLEN

Post by Tim Leech »

Thread copied from FCF

A friend's much-loved BX estate has been stolen from Waltham Abbey, Essex/Hertfordshire border, in the early hours of Saturday 20th June.
Please look out for a BX 19TXD Estate, Venetian red, Registration L 792 AKJ and if seen tell the police

Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Kids after scrap value. The owner should contact all the local scrappies to see if it is brought in. Must be at least a hundred times in the last 12 years, I've had some of them asking if I wanted to get rid of mine. Last attempted theft of my 1.4 was in 2004, and deliberately broken rear window on 1.6 was end of May last year - as our US cousins say, go figure.

Actually they are not super easy to steal, get into, yes, but if the steering lock works correctly you may find only straight lining possible....

Now if it had been a 16v'er........

We had our Saab stolen and recovered by the Garda here about 5 miles away after it had been abandoned, not sure why, probably joy riders. You can start them with a screwdriver. Lucky to get it back with some bodywork damage to the door lock area and bonnet. It has a hefty chain now through the steering wheel and anchor points.

Keeping eyes skinned for it. I don't think scrappers are allowed to take any old car anymore with out a v5 document. But suppose there a few rogues out there.

I had many old saabs. Have a 02 Saab aero at mo. But on the old ones I use to remove the spinner on the inside of the dizzy cap to prevent theft.

A Saab tradition was that they had a lock on the gearbox. I do not know when this was dropped, but on the old 96 it would put off the opportunist thief of the day. For a time the Saab was a least stolen car.

The no further news suggests this BX has not yet been found. Bummer

Yep still has. Even my 2002 Saab aero 9-5 does this.can only remove the ignition key when it's locked in reverse.

Gutted for the owners. Especially as these are becoming exceedingly rare.
