Help for a Meteor...

Post by Philip Chidlow »

This is an urgent appeal on behalf of the save the BX meteor....... For £2 a month we would send you photos of this soon to be stunning car..... This will include a detailed step by step guide on how to......

Ok jokes aside are there any Citroenian's out there in the High Wycombe area the has a trailer or access to a trailer or flat bed that would be willing to give up there time for free on Saturday morning or afternoon and help a fellow Citroenian to recover my latest purchase from Hughenden manor to wellingborough northants i will cover fuel used and refreshments on arrival this does also deserve the one good turn, so if there is some way i can repay my services, by way of a service or pads and discs I'd be glad to help out.......
Kind regards.
Darren & Selina Walster.

Note: PM me if you can help; I'll let Darren know.

You can hire a transporter and/or a Brian James car trailer. Not sure of the costs, but it's an alternative if no volunteers are found.

Hiring a car trailer is relatively cheap – before I had my own trailer the last one cost me about £50 for a day. Be careful to check it for any damage when you pick it up. As you might well be charged afterwards otherwise.

Check insurance covers loss or damage to trailer, had to take out extra insurance for this once!!
trailer hire company should be able to do this if needed
Do you have AA relay cover?

Your insurance will cover for towing a trailer but almost certainly not for damage to the trailer…

Darren does have cover but the car's been standing in a garage for 16 years... might look a bit 'obvious' with the tyres and so on as they are. I've told Darren I'll let him know of any offers to help.

Yup seconded, but don't take the first quote. Enter your details and wait for the quotes to start coming in within minutes. The first quote is always the highest. Ignore it and they then start coming in lower and lower. They do all the work and transport it fully insured.

I apologise to all, bar one person, in advance for doing this, but would the person who's gone to Darren and advised him that I'm bad mouthing him on the forum please step up.

My comment above, clearly made in a jocular manner (for example, on the phone to a mate you're trying to get to come down to the pub you're all at: "Oi numpty bollocks, get yer fat arse down here!") sounds like it's been relayed in a more sinister way. The reasons for this, I have absolutely no idea! This isn't the place to go into detail, but I'm sufficiently pissed at the outcome to want to pursue this further.

So, anyone?

This is the contact details of the transporter owner/driver who recently shipped my new acquisition from London to Manchester via Shiply but will happily give much better quotes directly. I couldn't fault his service and have no qualms recommending him. His direct fee (after Shipley fee's) was £165 for a 300+ mile journey (one-way). He just needs collection and delivery addresses + contact no.s for both locations.

Was loss or damage to the trailer I had to take out extra insurance for, I was only covered when i was driving, not for loss or theft when parked for example, on the insurance policy i had at the time,

Did I miss the fore mentioned post, I can't see any post which is anything like ''bad mouthing''
