Bx gti opinions please

Post by Gary theobald »

Hi just seen eBay item 162448975378 and would be grateful if you could offer your views on it including what's a fair price also are gti alloys easy enough to find as I think these trims look hideous
Thanks in advance

I'm surprised it's gone that high! Just shows that minters are fetching collector money. I doubt someone's shelling out £2k to drive it, especially with it being an auto.

Those trims are indeed hideous - ZX perhaps? Alloys aren't that easy to find, and 5.5j ones (OEM spec on the 8v GTi) are even rarer... but they are out there.

Nothing wrong with a GTi auto, lovely relaxing car to waft along in in style.

The car in the listing also seemed to have the older style steering wheel, not sure if that is correct or not.

Mines a GTi auto but without the auto. I put in a manual box to get more performance and economy and I think it suits the GTi better unless of course you just want to cruise around in it.
The steering wheel looks correct to me as its the same as mine.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

Admittedly I've only ever driven a GTi auto apart from briefly driving an absolute dog of a manual GTi in Essex when I was looking for a BX back in 2002. I think I'm more of a cruiser these days but the auto is great to drive around town and in traffic, albeit not terribly economical. Perhaps some day someone will let me drive a manual 8v just so I can a proper comparison... I could be converted. How does 5th gear compare to that in the 16v which I think is too low for motorway speeds again making it a little less relaxed (on motorways!) than the auto?

My GTi which has the 4 spoke steering wheel is a May 1991 car so perhaps they were fitting both types at the same time?
