The under bonnet chicken wire mesh is a screen to reduce radio interference from the ignition system.

We had an enjoyable holiday in Malta in 1991, it was full of MK1 Escorts, Anglias etc.
I even saw a Ford Thames van on Gozo.

I was told by a local that there were large import taxes for cars, but no MOT tests.

Flushing the radiator and engine is easy, and essential in a hot country where the cooling system has to work well to avoid overheating.

There are also a lot of good examples of ford capri's and cosworth's.

Gozo has a lot of examples of old classics, a lot of the taxi's there are datsun's with a few BMW's.
