Delorean was ALWAYS meant to have a V6 (dumb yanks), but it was meant to have twin turbos, but it put the product costs up by £5000 and took too long to develop (hence it was initially launched with the non turbo). Only one twin turbo rolled off the lines, and i think there have since been two other built in the UK.
Other non true Delorean rumours, the bild quality was terrible. Thats something thats a load of twadle! The first 'batch' of deloreans where hit and miss as the workers hadnt had much training nor had they any practise with the delorean before hand, and thus bodged a lot fo things till they got the hang of things (which was sorted by the time of Mk2 Delorean, and many changes where made to simplify the construction). The BEST Deloreans ever built where the original 24k Gold AE, these where built to perfection and as perfect RUNNING vehicles, only team leaders with the most experience ever touched the cars and where not allowed to touch the gold panels. Fluids where NEVER put in the engines though! The engines also dont fail.
End of Delorean rant.
I'd rather have a real citroen engine (PRV) than a heap of american lump. Also i'd probably twin turbo it, plenty of room then! Or maybe an SM lump, that would probably be easier!
Part 2....your favourite limited run BX model!
The point is the PRV was designed as a V8 - hence the 90 degree V which is good design. Unfortunately when it got to production 2 cylinders were lopped off - leaving a rather undesireable V6 which should have a 60 degree V for balance purposes.
Only Citroen to use the thing was the earlier XM's wasn't it? - CX escaped.

And as I was driving my BX over the Severn Bridge on the Saturday before Christmas, with my girlfriend, on our way to spend Christmas at her parents' house, we were overtaken by... yep, a DeLorean!!
I looked in my rear view mirror, clocked the DMC badge and all I could babble excitedly was "Oh my god... We are about to be overtaken by... by..... the Back To The Future car!!!"
First time I've seen one running on the road outside of a car meet
