spring clean

Post by citroen7 »

i was threatened by her indoors that if my two estates were not moved fr om the front of the garage to tidy the place up the scrap man would be called :( so armed with fully charged battery and air compressor i pumped all the tyres up checked oil and water in both and fitted battery to DAZ primed the fuel filter turned the key glow plugs on waited for the click and hey presto! started first time , unfortunately the suspension fault had not cured its self so had to turn the steering wheel to get the back end up but hey she had been sat since mid october. Drove around the house and parked next to the shed behind the hedge and let her tick over for 20mins.
moved battery to HBZ and then realised the pump was missing and no lhm in tank! also glow plug relay was missing so hunted out a spare and turned the key glow plugs on fuel primed and hey presto started first time now HBZ was last started in june last year so i was well pleased , so drove her around the house with no thing but the handbrake to stop me (not for the faint hearted) and parked next to DAZ so now have a nice tidy front of house too keep her happy and i am happy that i still have two estates that will move under there own steam in fact this has spurred me on to rebuid one good car out of the two!
If only all cars started like that after so much neglect!!

It`s spring here alright and no mistaking. Mr7 sounds like you`re having more BX luck than I am right now. Vanny (and Doc) came within a whisper of getting my newly engined estate back on the road but more parts and time are now needed

Might shed some light on this seasonal subject

Spring technically begins 21st March which is around the time when the Earth points straight up on its Axis. Although it gets confusing when June 21st marks the beginning of summer because the 24th is Mid Summers day :? which ok so a 6 day summer is a typical UK summer

Now heres the bit which has now made it confusing  Due to lazyness because the first day that spring appears is in the month of March they class the first day of the month as being spring. Ok with all the climate upheaving people say the seasons are out of kilter anyways.

Astronomically speaking the spring Equinox starts on the 20th/21st March depending on the hour it reaches that zero axis point 8)

Of course thats all very well if you in the Northern Hemisphere

Autumn is upon us down south

Technically we are still in late winter or in my case late summer until 20th/21st March

I am also trying to convince her indoors that I must get another BX for donor parts  Only snag is I got to get rid of the old van with the dodgy headgasket

If I didn't know better, I'd say you had a bee in your bonnet.
