MOT DAY ON FREEBIE BX

Post by tim leech »

Well as you imagines it failed, but not on much,

1. Petrol Flap locking mechanism, part on order from Citroen (£15 in all) but now on back order so will get one used.

2. Rear wheel arch where it meets the door step section is rotten and needs a plate

3. Very small hole in nsf inner wheel arch again needs plating.

Martin will charge me about £20 for the welding so for £45 Ive got a years MOT.

Im happy with that!

My free BX is already MOT'd until October.

I am considerably better, than yiao.

Although it does have some bent valves

Well yeah, but Kitch has the advantage, since the Mk1 is loitering at Doc's bus emporium!!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

bah humbug  The 16RS I got dirt cheap needs a rust free Subframe to get its 6 monthly ticket

Only other gremlin was a blowing rear silencer (they call it a muffler) which couple of blobs of welding would cure and two tyres. Incidentally my none BX had a weld done on its exhaust system the guy saying it would last 6 months

Three years later

With the suspicion on the engine blowing Oil and the last owner saying compression was reading 80psi in one cylinder. Yet its still got the power, I am reluctant to pay out to much on a subframe.

Of course it would help having a Job to be able to do this work now

Well what a busy BX day again, up at 8am jack was here for 9 to fetch his 16v back which I had been nursing, then it was off in the newly moted/taxed freebie BX to arctic steels (andy) house in sunny wrexham.

It turns out he also has a white 16TGS but his is rather rotten at the front and a couple of the HP pipes have gone so hes breaking it for spares, fortunatly the exterior and interior of the car are better than mine.

A huge thanks to him as he allowed (and helped) me to take everything I need for my car including bonnet, nsf wing, a set of correct TG wheeltrims (yes I got very excited kitch), parcel shelf, drivers door mirror and door card and loads of interior bits all for the pricely sum of nowt, zilch, nothing. (well 2 pints of stella and a pie and chips at the local ale house)

Oh and Phil I have a set of correct headrests for you which you can cut down for rears for your car, I will bring them to the national for you buddy.

And as for the new steed it completed 220 miles (I got lost on the way home) on £20 worth of fuel and performed faultlessly!)

However Im still without speakers so Mulley I will be dropping over to see you mate! :D
