Hi level brake lights.

Post by Philip Chidlow »

I fancy fitting hi level brake lights to my BXs. What's the best solution - and most economical, of course? I have seen many types, what would suit ideally, would be the (older style) 'box' type mounted on the rear screen clear of the blinds.... Some of the 36 LED strip types are far too showy. Thing is, the rear lights on the later BX (behind their smoked lenses) are not brilliant...

Suggestions?

My lights were not brilliant try giving all the connectors and earth plus all the bulb holders a good clean i did this and they are now excellent but if you want an led strip hi level i have one you can have for postage cost you just stick it to the glass

They are mandatory out here but with the sun, they turn to dust in no time.
A word of warning though, mounted where they are on a BX I can guarantee you'll break them off with your head within the first day if you're not used to them being there.
Bloody things!!! I'm always crowning myself on the thing which causes the red bit to fall off and at night time, you think a truck is going to run over you the first time you hit the pedal and the whole back of the car lights up.
Better idea on the Estates as they are stuck to the window instead of dangling down like a horses d d d d (rhymes with wronger)

Of course the bset place would be integrated with the GTi spoiler á la Audi etc. But that'd be too much to ask.

Would it?

It _seems_ not...

They list another one (ref 880/2733783) for £84.99 and specifically say this one doesn't have an integral brakelight.

Here's another link:

I'm impressed (I think), but the price is a bit of an obstacle. One day, maybe. The pic's not too helpful there, but I imagine the light is in the trailing edge, between the flared ends.

Thanks for that. Food for thought.

My TZD has a rather fetching one stuck in the top of the rear window, it works now too, after some bozo routed the cable originally so that it was chopped off by the tailgate closing, i wonder if he is the same guy who fitted the gold door lock buttons?
