2010 CCC NATIONAL RALLY

Post by Tim Leech »

From the CCC Forum:

The National Rally 2010 will be held over the weekend of 17-18 July, at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire, instead of Godmanchester.

Anyone who hasnt been before its a great day out, and will make the day more interesting for non Citroen enthusiasts (wives/kids etc)

There must be camping some where close (perhaps over the road at the farm) as there are loads of big meets there, but i work next door and don't know of any camping on site.

Still a much more interesting site than Huntingdon for car enthusiasts, the museum is pretty good for anyone vaguely interested in cars, but really good if you like old BL metal.

Easier to get to aswell...

As long as there's camping I might go, assuming having a drink is allowed....

EDIT: Come to think of it, I could get the ambulance on the road and take that! It has cooker, sleping facilities, is BL tin (well the chassis anyhow) and it's been off the road for WAY too long...

hhmmm.....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Picking this one back up, I've camped at the Heritage Centre. There are (very) basic facilities, though there are 'proper' campsites nearby too. Not sure what the CCC will be doing.

Interesting that after a few years of site-sharing at Godmanchester, it's likely that both 2CVGB and CCC are heading to different sites this year!

It's also worth pointing out that the Vice-Chairman of the British Motor Heritage trust owns several Citroens...

Although not hydraulic ones. Flippin good bloke he is though.

Camping at gaydon for the win (and for being told off and hurting your hand although having no recollection of being a whining twit about it)

Your in for a treat if your going into the herritage centre. It's not a place you'll really want visit twice (says me who's been 5 times in the last year) but it is certainly interesting. Just up the road is Bagington airfield which has a private museum and a Vulcan! Coventry transport museum is very good, and should be visited multiple times.

I'll try and get the BX to this one if she's still going strong.

I know a man who does know... Let me just check with the poor sod who forgot to say "No" when the question was asked as to who'll organise it this year.

Oh, wait. That's me. Umm... <grin> <wave>

The campsite is part of the main Gaydon site, but separated from the arena for the day event. Two minutes walk away.

There are real live flushybogs - not chemikhazis - on the campsite, and real live hot showers (and more flushybogs) down by the arena. There's oodles of camping space - and there should be plenty of arena space - we've got the whole area between the "in" and "out" roads of the one-way system. The grass by the building, the tarmac, and the grass with the "Helipad".

Trust me, it's going to be a good 'un. Look - with me in charge, do you really doubt it'll be anything but? You reprobates will be warmly welcomed. As will 2cvgb, CX Club, and any other similar lost sheep.

(And, yes, the rumours are true - the Mk1 Fiesta club will be there, on the other half of the car park. It's also the Audi Club's AGM!)

Are dogs allowed?

That looks a bit contentious please allow me to rephrase... Could I take my dog with me?
