If you have a small spray bottle and you use a weak solution of baby shampoo and water.
(Note only a few drops of shampoo to 500ml of water)
Spray the area and the back of the large stickers and place them on the panel, Then using a flat piece of soft plastic with a straight edge squeeze out the water and allow to dry this makes the fitting of large stickers much easier,
I hope this is helpfull
Baby shampoo doesn't contain any chemicals and this solution is also a very good glass cleaner.
Regards Kermit
PS Still saving for my bit of the trip budget

Yes Phil that's how they fit the full body stickers to vans the liquid helps to move them and when they dry out they stick but not tooooooo much baby shampoo.

GS is booked in for MOT Friday - I finished the structural welding today, so just have the driveshaft, rear brakes, number plate light, battery clamp, some wiring, the rear door assembly and the rear seat to refit for then.
Then assuming that it actually passes, that'll leave the front passenger door to swap, the rear passenger door to rebuild, the passenger side of the car to paint, the drivers front wing to fit and the interior to put back together - And I'm back in work next week. Something tells me I'l be finishing it DURING the Challenge

Hi Mike
I know it is called classic challenge but I think the idea is to have the car done before not on the challenge.

At the moment it seems the biggest part of the Challenge will be reaching the start - from that point on it'll be easy

Im getting quite apprehensive now, the TZD is mechanically sorted (asides two new tyres next week) but the welding still worries me, as does the idea that I will forget something. Havent booked my crossing yet (the funds for that went on the labour for the clutch etc which Ken was supposed to do)
lets hope it all comes together!

TBH I'd try not to worry too much - it's not as if we're going to Mongolia or somewhere like that! It will all be on tarmacked roads, and if something fails I'm sure we'll fix it between us. We'll be in the best place for spares availability!
Does the welding really need doing before you go? My ferry ticket was just under £60, so you may want to consider that instead of the tunnel if funds are really tight.
