Excellent. Thats two red and one white BX on the same train. I hope we can get some more!

With 64 days to go I thought I'd review entries. I need a 'hands up' so I don't over-order the stickers etc.

I have the following entrants registered (in no particular order):

*UPDATE 05/03/2012*
• Me and Phil Boxall
• Andy Jones
• Mark Smith
• Tim Leech
• Jaba
• Andrew Francis
• Mat Fenwick
• Mike Edmonds
• Anne Marie Squires
• Mike Sims
• Ben Williams
• Steve Clapp
• Hilary Stone
• Geoff Rothon
and.. Nearly confirmed? • Mike Harrison

Others who have expressed serious interest or the intention to participate on part of the route (and I would be grateful if those named could confirm either way asap although I know at least two have said they probably won't be taking part):

• Campbell McCutcheon
• Eoin Sloan
• Max Greenwood
• Charlotte Semark
• Nick Lord
• Todd Brooker
• David Marsden (I'll put you on this list for now :) )

I have other names (or Forum usernames) so can I ask if any of you know any of the following please can you help me get an answer. (Oh, and persuade them to participate of course!)... there are some I do know so will contact them, but the more the merrier.

'Scarecrow'
Ted Crilly
Ron Johns
'KevR'
'Red dwarfers' (Kev)
Toby HDi
Mihran
'Wooscary'
Robert Smart

Owing to to the diversity of BX models attending(hopefully), is it worth compiling a list of generic spares to bring along with us. Spare bottles of LHM, bulbs, coolant etc. Just a thought. :)

Well, I'll be bringing a spare throttle cable and clutch cable... And I have a spare of the latter... It would be sensible to make sure we have RHD specific spares in particular.

Alcohol breath:

Although it won't be required until July 1st (and fines won't be applied until Nov 1st) it could be a good idea to stock up for the summer hols if applicable. Not a concern for the Challenge now, then.

You might want to try these:

I have now secured for the event, a relationship with Quest Motor Group - a highly regarded family business who have recently become a Citroën dealership. It is hoped in the future we will see them support various spin offs from this inaugural event and as of now the Challenge will be officially titled The Quest Motor Group Citroën Classic Challenge 2012. They also pledged to support the 30th Anniversary of the Citroën BX stand at the ICCCR and are already talking of another event (in the UK) in 2013 and a re-run of the 2012 Challenge in 2014.

Any freebies then. On a more serious note is anyone having any prep done on their cars. I replaced the HP pump belt and alternator belt just in case. Going to have the brakes overhauled and the coolant drained and re-filled. Just wondering about fitting an auxiliary fan to aid cooling on the tortuous alpine sections!

anyone having any prep done on their cars.
Look for me on face book for the grizzly details, but my prep work includes:
Welding
Outer CV joint replacement
Front ball joint checking and replacement where necessary
Welding
Rear brake overhaul
New ignition switch
Replacement of passenger side doors and drivers front wing
Radio installation (both normal & CB)
Welding
Painting of various panels and parts
And finally... more welding!

Currently, the front is up on axle stands with the brake pedal and master cylinder, steering column and various pipes stripped out so that I could weld up the front bulkhead. Tomorrow all that starts going back in and I start on the drivers side A post and sill.

On the 16v, a second fan is easily fitted in the space next to the 1st one.

Worthwhile as that car has a smaller fan and smaller radiator than the 8V engine.

You could simply fit a relay and switch in the cockpit so you can demand extra cooling as required.

I found that alpine sections were not a big problem for engine cooling, because of the higher speeds involved.

Monaco, however, had the gauge moving to the right and plenty of fan cooling was needed.
