Is it just me or is everything shit?

yes they did it for the traction's birthday in switzerland, the even had signs infront of each one telling you about the vehicle etc. So no reason why it cant be done for the bx....or that the europeans cant join in/park all bxs together..(right??)

Each car had a "milestone" in front of it with the Year of manufacture. They had a vehicle for every year of production from 1935-57, all Swiss owned.

yes it was at the swiss icccr.

My point was it should be possible to do something similar for the bx- i mean for one thing theres less production years!! Or failing that have them all at least parked togther in some sort of order. e.g. mark 1, mark 2...etc possible surely?

I have to say, as a little side note i found the organisation of the swiss icccr very good. Whereas Rome....er yessss...

(p.s i hadnt realised they were all swisss owned..thanks for that ill have to make a note on my photos!)

Just a slightly random thought while in the loft, what about an 'experts pit'? A covered area with useful people nearby to tackle small problems, electrical faults, hydraulics issues, fitting of parts (door pins, accumulators etc). A random thought perhaps, but as it often happens at local rallys for the BX. I'm not suggesting i'm going to start ripping someones car apart, but i could guide them through taking a door card off or changing dash bulbs, and i'm sure between us we have 'expert's in every aspect?

Yep, got that covered.
There will be a "garage" on the site manned 08:00 - 20:00 with volunteers who are on a "Buss-mans Holiday".

These include:
- Barry of Bourne Citroen
- Darrin of Citroen Classics
- Graham of Graham Morton Vehicle Services
To name a few.

All wishing to volunteer to "cover a shift" and provide assistance to fellow Citroeninsts with problems are more than welcome.

Please "raise your hand" by contacting us by email.

We need lots and lots of volunteers to make the ICCCR work.

In addition to that, Longstone Tyres will have a Tyre Sales, fitting/balancing unit on site with favorable event prices for you new set of rubber!

Sounds good that Mick. I was thinking something a little smaller though, and perhaps geared more at BX's 'in the field'. From past events a sudden rush of work on a BX always draw a crowd, which has to be a good thing?

Well, for example, last year at stratford, numerous people came over to the BXP tent with there cars and parked in a nice orderly line (which was rather formal) and those of us with the know helped those who needed it.
Mostly simple things, connecting under bonnet electrical isolation panels, changing wiper blades etc nothing serious, nothing that required a lot of tools or ramps etc but it was club members helping club members. Last years national, helping mulley change alternators, nothing taxing, but it drew quite a crowd. I distinctly remember drawing a very large crowd the year we changed the rear spheres on the back of my BX, at 2am.

For me this is one of those things that separates a rally from a pageant. Parking cars up in a nice orderly fashion and having people walk past them is nice, and chatting to there owners is nice, but coming away from a rally either with a better working car, or knowing someone elses car is a little better is what makes a rally really good for me!

I've done car shows for years, and they're good for a few hours. But a proper rally, especially the way the Europeans do them, can keep me entertained for days, usually three.

:lol: :lol: I remember the alternator fiasco well, & that dog rough one that was the last one fitted out of the trio when it was looking like "oh dear" is still fitted to the car & working well :D

I think that idea is terrific, how's about something like how to overhaul fdv's & things like that, members can bring along their old bits & can learn how to sort them from the experts.

Well i have sourced a BJ trailer i can borrow to bring her on ;)

I'd rather hope that i can have the damn thing running on its own two feet by then!


Speaking to Smiffy the other day, I wonder if we could borrow an AC recharge trolley from somewhere and have a day repairing BX AC systems? Given current gas prices i suspect we could probably manage £15 per recharge.
