I think it was the cable operated gear change that caused the issues, soon changed for a rod system which made it better, I had an allaggro with the same box, which was very notchy
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Apparantly, if not set up correctly, or if a cable stretched, it was possible to select 2 gears at once

We had a '72 1500 many years ago. The gearbox was a bugger until the engine had warmed the oil up and the cosmetic condition of the body was truly appalling rust wise. Mind you we were the 13th owners of what was then a 10 year old car, and the mate we bought it from had owned it 2 years

Didn't the D super have a 5 speed before that?

There were 2 of us in the company who had Austin Maxi company cars in 1972 - mine needed new front tyres at 7,500 miles so everyone took the piss something rotten accusing me of taking corners etc far too fast.

A couple of weeks later the other guy's car hit a similar mileage - and his Maxi needed new front tyres as well !

The 5 speed gearbox made his first appearing on D models in 1971 DS21 manual gearbox and in option on DSuper
Development must go through simplification

I thought the first production car with a five speed box was a Lancia of some kind?

Citromobile 2013 will be held on May 4/5.

So I'm thinking perhaps get on an early morning ferry on the Friday, find a reasonably priced hotel for 2 or 3 nights, then home either sunday night, or monday morning. My preference is the monday, but I can be flexible.

Entrance on the door is €10 each day for adults, or €5 children upto 12 years.
Free car parking.... you get to see some of the most bizarre Citroens EVER!

I've looked at ferry crossing from Dover to Calais using DFDS seaways, which will be £32 each way.

I will look for hotel prices in the near future.

DFDS often run special offers in the new year.

I'll be looking for somewhere to camp, but would be up for convoying down and back, shifts permitting

Remember this is the Mayday bank holiday weekend, so it's only the friday we need to worry about. I'm well up for a convoy, as it makes life more interesting, and easier if anyone breaks down...

Speaking of which, I just bought an epic towing pole, makes towing another car a total doddle!
