I am actually working from home on Thursday afternoon. Which I shall sneakily extend into early evening so I can pretend to be working from home Friday afternoon but actually be buggering off to Ludlow, doubtless via GSF for whatever I have almost certainly forgotten to acquire in readiness for the weekend. Aiming to be there early-evening-ish depending on traffic, it's a fair hike from here.

I will be bringing my Trangia because it doesn't weigh much and although I don't drink that much coffee, I need the first one in the morning, which may be significantly earlier than for most people (yay insomnia).

Rich, can you let us know what we need to chip in for food please? :)

Weather is not looking very promising. Anyone got a gazebo?! I shouldn't have given Tim's back! (I've still got one of the feet for that Tim, found it in the car the other day).

Unfortunately I'm working this weekend Tim. Mind you it's double bubble on Monday so I'm not complaining too much. :) I'm off up to Ecclefechan in the Scottish Borders for a couple of days R & R. Hoping everyone has a great weekend and take plenty of pics. TTFN. :)
p.s. there's unlikely to be any 3G connection up in Ecclefechan so I'll be off the forum for a couple of days, if there is any change to the plans for the French trip can someone send me a txt message pls. Cheers. Mark.

Hmm weathers not looking brilliant, but the forecast is more showers than constant rain so we might just end up letting the weather decide when the tea-breaks are.

I've scored 10 big sheets of cardboard from some people fitting furniture so we've got something between us and the grass :)

I'll try and dig out a gazebo or two from somewhere if we think we can keep them clean.

I don't have a gazebo but I have a utility tent but it wouldn't go over a car and it's a bugger to put up so probably isn't worth bringing. I can chuck it it in the car if you think it might be useful. I've also got a rather big groundsheet that could go under the cardboard and a tarpaulin. They are due to go up the loft next weekend as we won't need them till next year but I can bring them along too.

Is there anywhere nearby that we could buy any odds and ends that we might need on the day? Not really sure what that might be but all I will have is a socket set & screwdrivers, no useful bits of wire etc.

We don't have a local Halfords (thank god) which means we do have two decent motor factors in town. I think they're open till 5 Saturdays. Theres a fair sized independent DIY place as well for other odds and sods.

Ground sheets sound like a good plan given the forecast. I'll leave the utility tent in your court Merlyn, but I wouldn't bother if it's going to be a right faff. We can put the food indoors and if rain stops play on the cars for a bit then hopefully we can just drop the bonnets and put the tools inside till it stops. (says the person whos thinking of changing his window mech)

Getting excited now 8)

Right. I'd better get to bed. I will be there in the morning, but I refuse to confirm which part of the morning... (I've had a bloody hard day and am utterly knackered, but hoping I don't lie in!)

I was going to be coming Sat morning, but the weather looks absolute crap. There was a suggestion that on the Sunday that it would be a driving day rather than fixing/fiddling, would it not be a better idea to do the driving on the Sat & do the actual tech on the Sunday when the weather is decent. I'd like to come on the Sunday instead, but only if the tech is happening. Sorry to mess everything up :(

Weather was awful when we arrived last night but the sun is shining brightly this morning. It looks like being a great day. Tinkering will be happening today, I haven't driven 2 hours to get here just to go for a drive!!
