I think the original reason for this escapade was political in some form but I'm sure no-one cares to remember what that was :D
Don't turn up on Saturday.. The 29th is a Sunday!!

Yeah, I thought Corley Services too to meet up with Tim. If you and I meet at Keele then we can go down and meet Tim further on, Corley made sense to me.

Fine by me. If we meet up at Corley Services Eastbound on the M6 about 11:40am then? Its then only 7 miles to the museum.

This is the event that I was considering going to on the Saturday (then staying overnight and joining you all on the Sunday)...

http://www.imagineerproductions.co.uk/c ... g_coventry

Note - there are some road closures associated with this event on the Saturday and on the Sunday...

http://www.coventry.gov.uk/info/569/roa ... oadworks/3

Note that on the Sunday, the 'rolling, stage by stage road closures' for the procession include Hales Street (where the Motor Museum is) though reading between the lines the procession goes past the end of Hales Street rather than along it so it might be that it's just one end blocked off so there may still be access to the part we want to get to even during the closure - which should be after 12 o'clock anyway.

No probs :)

I've just sent an email to West Midlands Police to let them know we will be arriving on the Sunday and to ask if we can have access to the museum in the event that the road is closed to through traffic. I'm sure it won't be a problem - I'll post re any reply I get.

At the risk of being a stuck record, and no one acknowledging my post last time, DONT USE JUNCTION 3 OF THE M6!!!

Use Junction 2, A46 to the A45/A46 interchange and enter the city via LONDON ROAD.

Going by electrokid's link, you should miss much of the chaos. Once on the ring road you head left/anticlockwise and it is well sign posted. I think SatNav will try to take you off at the Wickes junction, DONT, stay on the ring road till the next big round about (the only round about actually on the ring road, so you have to stop) and almost double back. The rear entrance of the museum is about 300yds from the round about, at the very bottom of a dead end, and shouldn't be closed to traffic.

Oh the signs on the ring road for the museum are HUGE so i doubt you'll miss them, and the signs all go to the museum car park at the back which is opposite the staff car park.
