Bristol Car Show 14th-15th June 2014

Post by red_dwarfers »

Sunday 15th June 2014

Event: Drive to the Bristol Classic Car Show

Location: Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 6QN

For those who would like to drive over and make lots of others smile, we and the North Somerset Tin Snails 2CV group are meeting at Wells Tesco for 9:45 on Sunday.

There is a CCC GSA 35th Anniversary stand along with classic car parking for visitors. The show is open all weekend and I shall probably be hanging around the GSA stand on both days. Last years was an excellent show with a huge variety of cars. More information here.

Not sure why this moved from the spring as it now clashes with other events. I am also amused that it remains the Bristol Classic Car Show despite it being no where near Bristol. Pity as when they used to have it in the Docks it was a great place to go and we used to have a stand. Now its more difficult to access and you cannot stroll into an area offering many and varied libations and tucker like Bristol city centre, very civilized and a good rest for those manning a stand. We no longer have a stand and few turn out as being trapped in the middle of no where is for those who like it.
In part this evacuation was bought about by the shows success and the usual burks with clipboards who saw people enjoying themselves. Well we cannot have that now, can we. Off to a larger certified site with you!
Of course as a driving destination to have fun its quite good. branching out into more drivable vehicles does change the plot.

Yep, classic car show in the Watershed - used to go as a boy on the DKW stand. One year met Val Biro and Gumdrop! Then they decided to redevelop the Watershed and use a tent in Canon's Marsh. The car show went OK, but on the saturday night of the motorbike show I believe someone cut their way in and helped themselves. If you think the Bristol Classic Car show at Shepton Mallet is bad, the year after the big tent it was the Bristol Classic Motorbike Show in Exeter!
