Des Smith's BX14TE St Tropez 1990

Post by Des Smith »

This is my current BX, after freshly painted sills. I don't seem to be able to get the photos to load into the gallery, so here's the link to my Flickr account. Some of you may recognise H122WAM - I bought her on eBay last year from a chap in Darwen and spent a significant wedge getting her roadworthy. New headgasket, skimmed head, new discs, rear radius arm bearings etc. usual story. She will be up for grabs very soon if anyone is in the market for a BX14. In the meantime, if anyone can tell me how to link photos direct to this page, do tell!!

Nice. But surely the sills need at least another coat? :)

I did pick up an old thread about the car when it was on ebay, so I know a little bit of the history. The chap I bought it from paid nearly £600 for it and 'couldn't get on with it'. He was a bit economical with the truth - there's more than a bit of rust over the wheel arches, but I had a bit of welding done. Incidentally, I'm picking up Ian's partner's car (J920VDW - 16TXS auto) on Saturday so for a while will have two BXs. Regrettably H122WAM will need to find another home as there is no more room at the inn.

Two coats of Finnigans should keep the worst at bay for the time being... I'm more worried about in the nooks & crannies underneath where the sun don't shine.
