K39....

Post by Bracey » Wed Nov 23, 2011 9:38 pm

Hi. This is my recently purchased Citroen BX. It may look familiar!

Image

BX ownership was an itch that I needed to scratch. I'd been watching eBay and Autotrader for a couple of months, then this turned up. It was by far the best I've seen and was for sale only 6 miles from where I lived.

Bought it off forum member, Philhod. Top bloke and the cars condition is a credit to him.

Me neither, but they're easily sorted.

Welcome, certainly is nice & shiny red than faded pink which makes a change :D Rare tailblazer as well, have you got the missing broken bit? I quite like those alloys, would need to see a proper side on view to see whether they suited the bx or not.

Has anyone ever got the missing bit to their broken tailblazer? No

Lovely car btw and welcome aboard. It's all a matter of taste of course, but as well as 'cheerio' to the exhaust and alloys - how about some red paint for those black vents and spoiler?

Agreed but I can see the reasoning behing it as a quick overspray with a can of satin black is a much quicker and easier job than trying to get a good matching red which is virtually impossible on a DIY point of view.

Howdy! Looks good. I actually quite like the black vents and spoiler. Somehow seems very 1980s.

I like the vents and spoiler in black to be honest and have no intention of changing those. It's a very tidy car and quite unique looking, I think.

I've got a set of 14 inch steel wheels on a Citroen ZX that's been written off and the original plastic wheel trims, which I think might suit the car a little better and the exhaust isn't my cup of tea.

My girlfriend - not one to complement me or my choice of cars - summed the BX up thus;
"At least this one looks like you bought it cos you like the look of it, not just cos it was cheap". Quite.

My neighbour thinks it looks like James Bond's Lotus Esprit (hmm, can't see it myself) and in one week of ownership, I've had 3 complete strangers approach and complement me on how good condition it's in and how rare they are.

I tend to change my cars very frequently. I'm not a trader and don't make any money, but I like a bit of variety. As much as I like this, it will probably be back for sale in the near future. In the meantime, I'll enjoy wafting to and from work.

I love the interior... Image

Nowt wrong with buying and selling - I do it all the time! Would be nice if I could avoid making a loss on stuff, but I like experiencing different cars!

If you decide a Rover 75 is up your street come car-change time...

You wont have much problem remhoming that I think. Lets hope you stick around for a while longer, BX's have a tendency to get under your skin.

I've been away in the middle east for a week or so, so missed this thread.
Like I said the car is genuine and has always been very reliable and you could probably re build a wreck from the spares

I agree about the exhaust and wheels

But I like the black so ner!! 8)
67 and still rockin (but not in a chair)

Hi Bracey to BXC !
As you've had +/- comments on the 'Blingy thing's' the only thing I think is okay is a Tailblazer (Preferably in perfect condition) but yours is sporting one well past its sell buy date !

Image

As it's the dual shade/colour type which do tend to fade with time (And this one definitely has) rather than the all Red type (Which usually don't) and there's the usual bit missing on the top/middle edge (As already stated), so IMHO it would look better completely removed !

But the main reason I've made my post is because no one to date has noticed that although the jet/wash nozzle is present the rear window wiper arm/blade has been removed, which is more important to have on the vehicle than the 'Bling' stuff !

Have you checked to see if the motor works as I can see the spindle is present thro' the hatchback ?

:)
