Not sure on MOT, tax runs out end of this month. He's obviously very attached to the car, having had it from new, unfortunately, given the water leak - leading to removal of carpets - and probably other wear and tear - it's probably not viable, despite otherwise looking fairly tidy for its age/mileage. Sad, but they can't all be saved.

Sandre picking up her Hurricane today. As outlined elsewhere it needs a bit of attention here and there but essentially a very tidy car . . .

Good thing the rear arms are ductile iron, if it was an XM it would need a new arm! I remember finding bits of roller inside one of mine....lovely creaking sound as you got in/out the car!.

'I love the creak of needles in the morning.....' with apologies to Apocalypse Now

Looks like a very tidy car, well done. There will not be many left in this kind of condition now.

Well, it's been an interesting couple of days, forget the rest for now, here's the aforementioned Hurricane tucked up safe:
Image
in good hands at Tim's until I can drop it off to Barry in the near future to get the essentials done: welding n/s/r and front inner wing, arm bearings (!) and f-r metal fuel pipes. Thanks Tim. I'm hoping that it'll be ready in time to go to Stratford - the former owners were obviously very sorry to see it go and have family in Stratford so may be looking for a reunion that weekend. CXM attendance is looking a bit up in the air, hope to make it for the Sunday at least as it's not far from home.

Thanks also to Paul for assisting with collection as I can't drive two cars at once, and being very patient with my normally excellent navigation skills/sense of direction being out to lunch for most of the day yesterday. I finally remembered the Ultimate How to Navigate Out of Birmingham theory (1), which meant the scenic* route to Tim's, but hey, the Hurricane needed to be driven. It does drive very nicely, feels very tight (only 111000+change on the clock) and pulls well, feels more sedate and easier to keep the speed down to 60 mph, unlike the 'other TZD' which is a hooligan ;P.

(1) Forget directions/maps, they lie: just follow continued signs to whichever motorway you want. Failing that, any motorway. Hope it's not limited interchange and that you can get on to drive in vaguely the right direction. Saves a lot of trauma "getting lost".

Remind me I must sort the weeds out on the drive! Starting her up today from cold she fired up first time and rose up nice and smoooothly. That smell of diesel and french plastic has got me hankering after a winter diesel hack......
