I can sympathise with you Ian, whilst living where we are is rent-free and it's quite a big house (with big garden and conservaotyr etc) it will be nice to not[i/] live in Yeovil's most classy ( ) council estate. The bottom end of the road we live on has so far had a police visit each week and is on their daily rounds. I think someone was stabbed last year just around the corner too. Nice. We will be moving in less than two years thankfully.

Luckily I was still a bit sleepy when I saw it, as i'm up at half 5 to get to work for before 7 so it didn't register until it got light outside and I could see what happened.

The offer is very kind Paul, thanks. What kind of condition is it in and what pin stripe doe sit have? I'm hoping the internals aren't too bad, but if your door is complete then that isn't an issue - I could just swap over the interior gubbins.

Tom, I hope you have reported it to the police, failing to stop and leaving the scene of an accident are serious offences so if you do find s car with green paint on it you may have some recourse. Also if you find said car take pictures

Thanks Mick, I have a czmera on the side ready and i'm keeping an eye out for scuffed bumpers. It looks like the people across the road and down one door are moving out, and I know one of them works nights (he has a brand new estate astra in black). So keeping both eyes peeled.

At least this should be a failry simple door swap, rather than having to deal with broken glass and panel scratches etc, there are some bastards about eh Tim?

Good condition generally - there might be one or two little scabs that need cleaning up but nothing that'll be a problem - the outer skins are all fine. I'll have to have a look what I've got; some are just shells and others still have the window motor/windows and all the gubbins. The trim/rubbing strip on them is the same as yours.

What a gent, thanks Paul. Had a quick go with the dent puller and it's almost all pulled out. There are creases and split paint, but now it opens and closes as it did. I haven't tried the window, but it's locking and unlocking fine so i'd think the internals are ok.

If you live in a crap area, i'd just leave the door as it is until you move, otherwise you could go to all the effort of replacing the door only for some idiot to do it again. As long as it works & seals correctly, thats the main thing, it is afterall just your daily driver. Spend the money on your GT instead, otherwise it'll never get back on the road. By all means get hold of a replacement door, but just store it & sort it once you've moved, just an idea, so feel free to ignore my suggestion.

The damage to my cars was where my mum lives, not the best area, typical WW2 built council estate, never had any problems when I had old bangers, but as soon as I started buying new cars I did. The lunatic (he has been in a home before) 50 year old (looks a bit like roy cropper) that still lives with his mother in the house opposite (the moved in in 1946 think they own the street) is responsible but cant be proved as he does it after dark, strangely there house is like fort knox with security cameras, gates and constantly twitching curtains!

I had it out with him once and threatened him if he comes near my cars again, im older and a bit broader than I once was and havent had any issues since.

Not a particularly major revalation, but one none the less. I've been wondering why the TXD smokes, and other times, not. It seems it only smokes when it's dark, ergo (at the moment) when it gets significantly colder outside. I think seeing the smoke in headlights is also a factor, but could a lower ambient air temperature cause smoking (on boost only)? It's a greyish smoke, definately not black and almost certainly not blue. We had no smoke at all from it today at the RR session.

If it's only when dark, it's probably just soot - which is very noticeable in the headlamps of the unfortunate car behind you. You'll probably get a little bit of condensation when the temperature is low.

Smoke is much easier to see at night ironically than in the daytime, so i wouldn't worry, start to worry if theres lots in the daytime.

RR day is perfect for showing up any smoke issues (if you have no extraction system fitted yet  ) as there is no wind or turbulence throwing any potential smoke around. So if the car makes some (even the tiniest bit) you'll see it.

Yours was fine, really wouldn't worry. Engine seems in good health.

Nah, it wasn't a puddle! It was only a dribble. I am surprised it didn't leave a little LHM dribble somewhere, it does overnight.

I've been reading up on XUD tuning this morning, these links are quite interesting. Although not a direct compsrion as they're playing with a 405 which looks to have different exhaust and intake systems.
