Went to Barry's last Sunday to get the psgr rear leaky cylinder fixed, half of a repair kit was used (turned out one of the seals was for the saloon cylinder, different size), but the leak appears to have stopped :) The comms 2000 unit was replaced as mine was making my lights come on automatically on & off, which was bit of a pain & possibly was causing me to get through a few headlight bulbs & as we know, changing them on a C5 is a pain in the arse compared to the BX. Only trouble was that the replacement comms unit has an airbag fault, so i need to go back to Barry's this Sunday to get another one fitted. I did manage to bag an exclusive leather steering wheel as my one had gone all crumbly & was shit, this one is a nicer size & is lovely in comparison :) Also noticed that my rear intermittent wiper doesn't work, so i'll get that looked at, probably something to do with the comms unit again :( plastic piece of expensive shite. The car is working well though & has proved to be comfortable & easy to drive, so can't moan too much ;) I may enquire about getting the egr blanked off to see if that improves performance & mpg, last tankful i managed a shade over 46mpg, which i guess in winter weather & on winter boots isn't too bad?

Another visit to Barry's this Sunday, its always a pleasure to meet up with Barry & his son Paul, a fountain of information & true car nuts :) The comms unit was sorted out, so now everything works, joy :) I decided to get the egr blanked off, the inlet pipe once removed was rather full of carbon crud, its like sticky tar, yuk :( I suppose compared to the shite 1.6 engines the amount of crap was quite good conisidering its probably the 1st time its come off in 14 years, it still reduced the intake hole by about a third though. That was given a thorough clean to get the crud out of it. I was running on empty anyway, so can't tell if its going to be more economical or not, but will report back. It does appear to have given the car a bit more oomph when booting it though as of course i had to test it by overtaking a few cars on the way home tonight ;) So thats a bonus, these 2.0 8v hdi's don't give many egr probs compared to the vast majority, but as they are getting on a bit now, its only going to be a matter of time before they do. Sad to say, but i quite enjoy driving the C5, now if they'd only made the steering have more feedback, then i may go as far as to say it would be quite a fun car to drive, now who would have thought that eh?

when you say you had the EGR blanked off, did you literally just blank it off, or has the EGR been deleted from the ECU?
Intend to do the same..
Been meaning to ask, do you work out the MPG the old skool way, or use the computer readout, cos I've noticed with mine that the computer seems to read a lower MPG than I'm actually getting if I work it out from mileage covered V fuel inserted! Only once has it been accurate. I mean, don't get me wrong, mine is still hysterically awful on fuel, but 37.6MPG feels less painful than 29.4....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

I blanked (physically) the EGR off from the Picasso (2.0 HDi 90) and the ECU didn't like it. Kept getting MIL lamps and limp-mode. When I remapped it, the guy wrote the EGR out of the system, and bingo! Sorted. Also wrote the cat out of the system after I'd gutted it, welded in a sleeve, sold the remains to pikeys for £40 and made it sound like locomotive. Result. 8)

figured it would need a e-map. That's cool, I'll have the EGR deleted when I delete the FAP.

IIRC blanked off (physically) EGRs are now a checkable MoT item. Probably best to leave the gubbins in place and just have the EGR 'removed' from the ECU.

On the 2 litre 8valve 110bhp engine its literally just a blanking plate, the ecu doesn't need it deleting from it as i haven't physically removed the egr, just blanked off where the exhaust gasses are routed, so no error msgs etc... :)

I work out the mpg the old school way, mine's too basic to come with the computer :)

Mark, there's no way for an mot tester to know the egr has been blanked off, you can't physcially see anything, if the egr was removed however, thats an entirely different matter. I assume doc your's is fitted with a dpf? i'd get rid of that as well, luckily mine didn't come with one fitted, another bonus point for the 8valve ;)

mine has the computer, it's quite hysterically inaccurate!
Indeed it has the dreaded FAP, but that will be going, or rather, the canister will stay (so it looks like it has one) and I'll just run a 2" drill through the lot and sleeve it. Then delete the EGR and FAP from the ECU, and get more economy, better power, more torques, and less emissions...
Allegedly my 2.2 16V has 136BHP.. I think a fair few of the ponies may have died!

Make sure you're running a genuine maf, if not that will immediately make it a lot more responsive & how do i know this ;) If its a genuine one fitted, you could give it a clean, but you have to be careful what you use as it can be damaged otherwise, there are some specific maf cleaner products about which are less aggressive apparently. Just need to bore the cat out next, that must be draining some powah. Now that i've been driving it for a while with the EGR blanked off, i can recommend getting this done, the car drives a lot nicer now, quicker pickup & revs higher as well, bonus, just got to see if the fuel economy is better & then it would be a definate win.

my MAF is original! Discovered why the economy has been so shit though. The NS brake caliper is binding... Today it pretty much locked up solid.
