Have cutting compound, will travel. What do you want Carplan 'fine' or Halfords 'coarse'? 8)

Probably not my freind, RFL usually goes up on midnight of it's annoncement. I am often left at the post office counter with a wrong amount check because the actual figure differs from that on the V11 tax reminders I have.

Visited Shaune today up in Sunny Wakefield, the rain held off as well, bonus :D

Exhaust system sorted as it fell off last week

The secondary box was furbar & the attaching pipe that fits in before it had a hole in it, so Shaune weled it up for me. A 2nd hand £5 box replaced the rusted one which was holed in more than one place & the back box was cleaned up before being put back on.

The rear exhaust hanger had detached itself, so this was welded back on. Inside of boot was a little damp & there was some rust, but was far less than i thought.

When i learned that the rear bumper was coming off, i was waitng for the huge amounts of rust. It wasn't that bad, its certainly not rust free, but Shaune reckons that's the best conditioned one he's seen in ages. So this summer i'll be busy getting the rust removed etc...to prolong the life of the car. I'll be buying an angle grinder, that'll shift dodgy metal in no time, i was impressed with shaune's black & decker.

While i was up there he kindly changed the gearbox oil. Only about 1 1/3 litres were removed, so wonder where the rest went :?: Told Shaune about filling up on the breather side instead of the side which is more akward, cheers to vanny for that trick & even Shaune said that he'd use that method from now on :D

All the work done, set off & heard a nasty rubbing sound noise, so had to head back to Shaune to get it checked out, luckily hadn't gone that far. Turns out that the rotten metal that kept the bumper pressure at bay once it disintegrated & was removed, then caused the rear wheel arch to bend back into the tyre. Shaune put some muscle into the rear arch & now its no longer fouling against the tyre. Nice & no nasty noises down the M1 back to home :D Cheers mate.

Changed the fuel filter this evening as the car felt slightly down on power, so presumed it might be a bit blocked/dirty & it was, so hopefully a drive tomorrow will see an improvement. I think the mileage now is 144970.

HaHa :) Still dirty, makes it less likely to be stolen & other motorists seem to get out of my way more when you have a dirty looking car. Really noticed that the car is a lot smoother on the throttle since the filter change, happy day's. Just need to sort out a CV gaiter, droplink & i'm sure plenty of other bits & bobs such as RUST etc....

Whilst on Hols in Lincolnshire this week, the exhuast started blowing rather loud. On checking the exhaust, the rear box had decided to come out of the middle box, must have just come loose. A quick internet search found a local garage & £5 later the exhaust was back on again & the car was a lot quieter.
