I think winter is a depressing time of year as well Tim. You are driving in the dark at both ends of the day. Two tickets in a month is a depressing thing too.
Do you have a chance to do a speed awareness course instead of points on the licence ? I was in a similar two tickets situation to you once. The worst part of it was sticking religiously to all speed limits for the next two years for fear of losing my licence and my job too.
Nowadays I don't give a damn but strangely find that the speed limits coincide with the sort of speed I want to drive at.

Something will turn up it always does eventually I find.

Hi John

The annoying thing is I dont drive fast, ive been done on mobile cameras where they have put a temporary limit in place, (40mph on a clear motorway and 50mpht through roadworks where there is no one around and its late) I admit I wasn't paying attention, mainly down to work pressures and being stuck in jams. I set the cruise at 70 on the motorway and watch as the Rang Rovers and BMW speed past! I've gone from 0-6 points within 3 months and if I get anymore I could loose my job. #-o

Sorry to hear about your woes. Things hopefully will get better. It's always easier to get a new job if you already have one. Take care and see you soon.

How much did you pay for the two tickets? Here you pay 160 Euro for speeding 12km/h over the limit, the ticket will say it's 9 over. Under that it's very rare to get fined, but the minimum is the same 160 Euros. We don't have a points system, but 3 tickets in a year or 4 in 2 years will take the license away for >3 months.

Nope!! It’s not been a happy start to the new job.

This marks my twentieth year of working in the trade and twenty years of working weekends.

Can’t do it anymore.

Change of career is imminent, but what I’m not sure.

I want a 9-5 Monday to Friday, I’m fairly smart, can use a computer and have good communication skills.....I wish I was more mechanically minded though!

Tim, you sound very unsettled. A career change is not something to be undertaken lightly. Often it means taking a salary hit to begin with.
But others have done it before and I did too. Its important to work out exactly what you want first after maybe taking some career counselling and only then going for it.
Finding a similar job nearer home would seem like a sensible first step to regain all that commuting time.
Sorry to bang on Tim I am sure you know all this anyway. Someone as enthusiastic and committed as you deserves to find more suitable employment.

I complete agree John, it’s a bit step and not something to jump at, I’ve always fancied estate agency, interaction with people, always loved moving house and making homes and I’m good with paperwork etc.
