i need to replace both front door check straps on my xantia and im sure i can get hold of a couple from the scrappy but how do they come out
i know the 2 bolts on body come off but the ones on the door itself have nuts on the outside do the bolts get tapped/knocked through into inside of door or is the strap prevented from pulling through in any way.
i cant seem to see how they go back through the door as the end from the car body is to big
its probably dead simple but its doing my head in
cheers colin

Hi Colin (Mornin' Mike)
You're not going to like this Colin...
The door cards need to come off. You'll need to undo the bolts that hold the strap to the "A" pillar, then undo the nuts that old the other end of the strap to the door frame, then reach up inside and tease the strap and it's spring assembly out.
I've just done the same job on a Renault Clio, being French it uses the same arrangement... It's not that bad, not as bad as getting the lock barrel clip on and off...

Nope, they don't split apart, they're just a massively fiddly job Try turning and twisting them all ways and eventually, everything will align and it'll come outadmiral51 wrote: Couldnt get which way they came out or do they split apart
When you get into the insides of doors Colin, it makes you wonder how they ever assembled them in the first place...
