more annoying clonks

Post by cacaolat »

Just as people are talking about annoying clonks ......
Whenever I reverse into a parking spot I will get an annoying clonk from somewhere at the front of the car.
what could that be ?

Sounds like your front brake shoes are shunting a little, maybe not fitted correctly. A common fault

Mine have done this since I bought the car 8 years ago.

I do not worry about it any more.

the bx diy site says this happens with all BXs, and says maybe more prone to it with Bendix pads or the like, i think it mentions Citreon supplied ones fit a bit more snugly and don't give the problem.

Mine does it when changing from forward to reverse, then braking, and forward then braking again, basically whenever you brake after direction of rotation of the wheels has changed.

Bendix pads.
