Strange Noise Coming from steering

Hi 93 19 TXD. I have a strange noise coming from the engine bay when nearing or in full lock on steering either side. it sounds rough and grinding like?

Any ideas?

Just an idea as I've just had it on mine......(only when turning left)... take the front wheel(s) off (one at a time is best

) and check for chafing

on the h/brake cable. I found that the retainer hook on the strut had rusted through and therefore the cable was able to rub the wheel when turned the relevant direction.........I was able to check with the wheel on, but on full lock. I simply used two cable ties to restrain the cable and problem sorted...of course yours might not be that but well worth checking the easy things first.

Wild Card for you one that plausable after the same kind of noises coming from my power steering abd that is!

The FDV is on the way out or an internal fault of the FDV.

Check for what Mike said first if not then worthy of investigation.

Possibly worn driveshaft/s ? (assuming only heard while rolling).

Did you try the h/brake cable retainer? As although only a minor thing it does sound like the wheels are about to fall off!
