Replacing diesel stop solenoid

Post by ed4ferrets »

Appears to be a Haynes 1 spanner job but is it straightforward swap or should I be watching out for anything untoward? Picked up a new one today and was rather surprised that it's not goldplated as the price led me to believe :?

Is there a special spanner to do the one on the Bosch pump? I think it's something like 27mm, but it's a real pain to get a normal spanner in there.

I changed the last one with carefull use of a small hammer and a sharp punch. No problem.

I thought it was probably a 'Lucas' as as there always failing at some stage in their life (Typical failure symptoms i.e.:- Solenoid/rubber valve face/spring/diesel leak between body and ceramic insulation).
That is why you can always get a good used one or almost new from a breaker's yard from any Lucas version diesel that's typically in Citroën's, Fords, Pugs etc. for a couple of quid as I've have on many occasions !

So how much did you get 'Skanked ' for a new one as you stated:-

erm........ £29.50 including 10% discount  Why is the rubber valve face /spring not available separately as required :?

Because there's a lot more profit to be made on £30 odd quid than on 50p worth of plunger and spring???
