Thanks DLM that looks like the Standard Carb on the 19TRS but still dont show that thing I am after.

I thought it did at first since the diaphram at the back is of a similer design to a point.

God dammit why did I have to pick up the one BX thats completely got me perplexed. Now I know the real reason it was not registered for Road Use until two years after it was built!!! Its because it was a test bed for NZ refinements

Yes, I know it's the standard BX19 Solex carb but thought I'd post the diags anyway so other minds can chew on it. At least it's possible to make a better guess about the significance of the points where extra pipes leave/enter.

I was reminded of the extra aircon load yesterday when leaving the car park for the block where I live with aircon on. It takes a lot to stall a 1700 turbodiesel but with compressor engaged ir's quite easy to do so at low revs if you have to pause at a T-junction.

On your photo it looked at first to me as thought the "pot" underneath the diaphragm cover was connected up to the centre of the diaphragm-cover - though I realise it can't be the case as the pot connects elsewhere. The pot seems more like an anti-pollution or de-aeration device to me.

So that central fitting on the diaphragm cover is the "screw fitting"? An adjustable means of manually pulling the diaphragm back even further to compensate for extra load of low-throttle running against the aircon? And is the gizmo there for similar reasons or for others? Is the electrical gizmo triggered only when aircon is on? If it's not a device with IC's or chips then you could check with a voltmeter for electrical supply with aircon on and off. Or else some back-tracing of the connection to it first might pay dividends, though rather you than me - it might lead to the aircon circuitry, which would be a big clue.

Oh well, off to bother some mullet with my rod and line, which seems a lot more straightforward than the workings of your BX's fuelling system!

P.s. - does the direction of your arrows suggest air or fuel flow as you believe it to occur?

Tomorrow morning I will see about uploading some photos from a differant angle. I think theres a bit confusion developing over that cylinder thing.
