Is there not a Haynes for the diesel BX?

Post by SamWise »

I have the Haynes for the XUD engine, and I've just recieved a Haynes for what I hadn't realised would be the BX petrol model (I forget Citroen even made petrol cars!). It seems like these together should do the job for me, but I'd kinda like to have the RIGHT manual. Wherever I look however, there seems to be no diesel specific BX manual. Am I missing something, or is it just that so many more diesels survive than petrols that they're in short supply?

What you need is a manual for the petrol BX coupled with the Haynes manual for the XUD engine.

This one - avail on the bay of evil from 99p up to about £16 (which is far too much money).

There is also a French Haynes manual that covers BX Diesel as a whole ... :D

Well, that combination is what I have, more by luck than judgement. My French is not good enough to deal with a French Haynes!

I belive, I have already posted link with haynes repair manual for diesel citroens (BX, Visa, C15). I don't know if it is illegal, but here it is again. Just download all the chapters, even the site is in russian, manual is in english.

There's also Peter Russek's Pocket Mechanic paperback "for 1700 and 1900" diesels. I have one, and it covers everything, although it has tons of typing errors and it's very messy. It does the job though. Picture

Well, I operated the "call Dave Rutherford and talk through the problem" approach on my last one. 5 mins chat, and we'd identified the problem, and I knew what I needed to fix it. The Haynes has its uses though, even if only "how much oil does it take on a change?" type situations.
