Petrol Smell

Well....started using the BX in ernest a couple of days ago but im now getting a strong petrol smell in the car, doesnt seem to be related to engine temp etc, ive checked all fuel unions under the bonnet and the breathers etc, anyone got any ideas?

My TRS does wiff a bit of petrol, but a few of the other 16/19s Ive had have been the same, the economy is fine and it doest appear to leak so Ive put it being down to one one of those things.

You may want to check the tank filler/breather/pipes for leaks etc.

Check the breathers from the tank, and check the metal pipes underneath aren't leaking. I had to replace both of mine with copper cos they'd rusted through.

Might be worth having a look under the rear seat too, to check the fuel tank sender unit seal and connections. If there's anything amiss there, fuel could be slopping out of the hole!!
